A new thought: I like when commercials advertise that pills are "easy to swallow." It's more than a great mental image to imagine a pill that ISN'T easy to swallow, in my opinion.

I really liked this: "another remarkable thing about the dead is that they are all ages, preserved at every age you ever knew them, and at no age at all." I'm not really sure why.

I'm at the edge of bringing about some significant changes in my life. I'm excited.

Weird. It's been a month. Works for me:

This month I've
had several major freakouts, but only a few headaches
lost a few pounds, yet eaten quite a bit
made new friends, and a few grudges
played in the snow, walked in the rain, taken good and not-so-good pictures
sworn too frequently
drank a lot of tea and other beverages, too
rediscovered cats
felt clingy, felt alone, felt frustrated and bored
bought new shoes and a belt and earrings that I'll hate in a year
dressed up for a night on the town
exposed body parts: feet, stomach, back, toes, ankles, breasts, to conditions they did not like.
seen a play that made me jump more than once
been unimpressed by a few things, people, myself
read the SkyMall catalog cover-to-cover on an airplane
laughed till my body ached for air, cried till I reached the same state
taken the stairs over the elevator whenever possible
killed a few words through overuse
been perpetually wet from the ankles down
written pages squared of papers and pages cubed in my journal, most of which are illegible, angry, defiant, sad, reflective. nearly all of which are shitty.

I haven't, however,
discovered any new and good music, which is utterly disappointing
gotten enough sleep
purchased new running shoes
vacuumed my room
learned, definitively, how to spell the word "vacuum" without pausing for a sec or two to count the u's, c's, and m's
been completely healthy in my thought patterns, my obsessions, my habits
consumed the champagne I had purchased for my Valentine's Day with Alex that did not and will not happen.

A few other things:
My circulation is really terrible.
I'm writing this from my sister's house in Portland, OR, the land of embarrassingly terrible drivers, of evergreens that steam after a rainstorm, of a downtown filled with beautiful buildings that remind me of New York, of D.C. and of Vienna all at once. It's spring here and crocus season is nearly over. The crocuses in MN won't bloom until at least the end of March. Our country is very big.
Will Jeopardy still exist when Alex Trebek finally eats it?
Look up the Twinkie Defense. I think it may be the coolest thing in legal history to date.

Probably done now.
