Sunday I played in the Borgata Poker Open Ladies Event. I'd have rather played in the the WPT Main Event but that cost 10K and the Ladies event was $230 sooooooooo.......
It was a different setup than I was accostomed to. The rounds were 45 minutes long, the blinds went up much more gradually, and the antes did not begin until the 4th round.
Out of 510 players, I finished 45th which was the next level up "in the money" so I basically got my money back plus $28... after playing from 11am until 9pm. It was definitely a cool experience though.
My favorite part was the second table I was moved to... there was this woman I recognized but couldn't quite place. Then it came to me... but she looked a bit thinner than she should have... so I waited until she talked. And I couldn't mistake her voice and mannerisms... it was that bitchy woman from Project Runway:
Wendy. LOL.
While waiting around during the first break, one of the tournament directors pulled me off my table to give me tickets for the WPT Pre-Party hosted by
Anotonio Esfandiari (who reminds me of a middle eastern version of my exboyfriend) and David Williams at the hotel that evening. Only the people registered for the main event got invites but I guess they needed to expand out the crowd a bit with some more women. They only gave out about 10 so I'd like to think it was because I'm cute but it could have been because I wasn't 40 nor fat.
So anyway... when all was said and done at 9pm I went down to the party by myself. The club was beautiful and drinks were free... I felt like such an idiot because I didn't understand why they didn't take my money and the bartender had to actually tell me. I got to see a lot of poker players: Chau Giang, Carlos Mortensen, Phil Laak (with Jennifer Tilly), Harry Demetriou, and Anotonio Esfandiari who was making out on the dancefloor with some girl (just like my exboyfriend would).
I think next time I'm going to try to satellite into the main event... I'd really like to play just once.
