Kick in the Head
It was such a beautiful day yesterday... warm and sunny. I had the itch to go out so in the evening I headed out to Ye Olde Goth Club of Philly aka Shampoo. As usual, the clothing and makeup were just horrendous... V remarked that he felt like he was watching Cirque Du Soleil.
So anyway, the music downstairs in the drinking area got sucky so we headed upstairs to the Kiddy Section aka All Ages. In the side room they usually play a mixture of 80s, and to my wonderful surprise they played Kick in the Eye by Bauhaus. Since I was dressed in my black dress finery I decided this was a perfect opportunity to re-live my gothic younger years and shake my booty a bit.
Um. Bad idea. I never felt so old in my life. First of all... everyone in there was like 17 and dressed like they were at a Strokes concert. A couple kids were doing the "Electroclash 2 Step" where they just kind of wiggle as they jut their foot forward and the rest of the people were doing some sort of "Kiddy Rave" dance.... TO BAUHAUS. Bauhaus people. I felt like a chaperon at a high school dance and quickly exited the dance floor.
Ouch.
