Sunday afternoon I played in the Woman's Tournament at The Bike. It was a $40 NL Headhunter Holdem tourny, which means for every person you knock out of the tournament, you get a a specified amount of money ($10 in this case). First place paid out $4,000 and a purse with a matching wallet (yea, I found that slightly insulting... a fucking PURSE ( Read more... )

how odd, I was just at the Bike Thursday playing the $30 nooner, at Hollywood Park the previous day playing their noon $30. Final tabled the Wens for a minor cash which paid for the buy in+ add-on at the Bike. So I broke even which means I basically got to play two tournaments for free. score!

Congrats on making the final two tables, that's much better than my finish out of 78 players... but I'm still learning.

Why did I think you lived in like Virginia or something similar?

I think my personal best was at the Taj in December... got 9th out of 300+ but until this tournament I've been basically sucking.

I actually was forced to play good poker on Sunday cause those women will call you down with ANY pair :)

Actually I did, until about a little over a month ago. I moved out to Culver City in early April. So I'm just learning my way around.

I tried finding information on the "Bad Beat on Cancer" benefit but found virtually nothing. Is this an invitation only thing, or is the tournament open to the public?

Oh neat... I work in Westwood which is right next to Culver City and I live in Hollywood... wow, you found the cardrooms quick! Which is your favorite so far? I love the Bike but dont go to Hollywood Park much because I don't enjoy getting shot ;)

So far I've played to two low limit tournaments. And some 1/2 NLHE at the Commerce ( ... )

I'm a big fan of the $40 NL table at the Bike. I usually play there one day on the weekend... and yea, I always prefer getting in on a new table and I've had pretty good luck with that the last couple of times. The food at the Bike is actually pretty good and ridiculously cheap as well.

Oh and I like that I can get my car washed when I drop it off with the valet :)

The Bike's got $40 tables as well, they're $1/2 NLHE I assume right? I'll have to check it out, last time I was there I thought I only saw $100 and $200 NLHE tables, maybe I was looking in the wrong place, or it could have just been that it was 2 in the afternoon in the middle of the week.

Have you played any other area card rooms? Any thoughts on them?

There's like 4 different boards at the Bike... you need to go to the big white board that has the wheelchair ramp wrapped around it. I'm pretty sure they have that game there consistently.

As for other cardrooms in the area, I've been to HPC and Commerce. Eh... wasn't too impressed... I won't really play anywhere except the Bike or maybe MGM when I go to Vegas. If I was looking for a cheap tourny tho, I'd probably go anywhere.

The benefit is invite only (I got one through work)... I found some info on it here:
