I can't believe how stupid most english speaking foreigners who live here are. I was perusing an 'expatriot' website and came across a forum for people living in Prague from other countries, what I found wasn't pretty. People asking for legitimate help are ignored, and most of the threads were about how to pick up Czech girls who, 'have lower standards then american girls'. So they go on and on about how popular they've been, and then inevitably some other guy says all girls want is money and back and forth they flame each other. See, originally I was looking at these sites so I might meet other english speakers but firstly it seems there are very few in Brno(because its kind of a boring city), and secondly they are all idiots. Although it was nice to see people echoing my displeasure with the foreign labor office, I lose hope when most of them say they should just ignore it because who would deport an american?
Today I went to Vienna, and it was a sharp contrast to Brno. Brno is boring as shit in terms of large European countries. In this case, second largest does not mean second best. Its like Milwaukee when compared to Chicago, there are some interesting sites, but why settle? The purpose of the trip was to settle some of my visa concerns, but of course they changed the rules to be even more complicated. In addition to the fact my boss forgot to renew the request to the Home Office that I could be employed(because of course it expires), now I must get my landlords signature verified at a certified building. All for a bullshit piece of paper explaining I live somewhere. All of this is supposed to be required BEFORE I LIVE HERE. I vow to destroy the EU if only to pay them back for the ridiculous bullshit they put me through. Vienna itself was fun though, I went to Schonbrun which was the palace of the Austrian emperors. It was massively impressive, and the gardens that also house the oldest zoo in the world are also a park for anyone. People jog in gardens that have been maintained for hundreds of years, for the pleasure of monarchs, just like they jog through a park with nothing more then oak trees in the states. I also visited a very old cathedral called St. Stevens, and walked through their catacombs, viewing mass graves for plague victims which consisted of a hole they dumbed the bodies in. There was also a time where they ran out of space so they got convicts from the jails to pick already buried bodies clean and stack the bones into a mass grave for more space. Now that was a creepy site. Unfortunately both sites didn't allow any photography. Also, Vienna is painfully expensive, so I'm glad I only spent one day there. But it was fun and has a sense of history an American city can't compare to. Neither can Brno for that matter.
