Things are still not going very well, I'm afraid...

It's still kind of hard adjusting back to being alone all day long without my svecke by my side, and the heat waves here have been nearly incapacitating. It had to be at least 95 yesterday, though it is a bit cooler now, in the high 80s I would assume.

If things weren't bad enough, my uncle called yesterday saying that his colon cancer has spread and he must have surgery for it. I recall when he said that he would rather die from the cancer than have that kind of surgery. But now that he has Star, his quarter horse foal, he doesn't want to lose her, so he'll go in for the surgery. It's almost painful to see him now, he's only about a 100 lbs... I don't know how to feel about this, but all of the feelings I -do- have are hurting me badly.

But, on a slightly more positive note, Svecke and I saw Finding Nemo on the 24th and we enjoyed it greatly. It was nice to see Pixar's dolphins, even if it was for about five seconds, and he and I nearly pissed ourselves laughing at the whale-speak scene. Thankfully there was hardly anyone at the theater, only about seven or eight couples and one baby that was waaaaay in the back. Too bad there weren't any bloopers at the end, Pixar's really known for that, but it was cute at the credits seeing Mike from Monsters Inc. swim by. The next Pixar movie looks odd, I never thought they'd do a whole film with mostly human characters, since I've always seen their humans as quite "cartoonish," but it still looks quite interesting, I guess I'll just have to wait a year to see what it is.

It's too hot for drawing, let alone concentrating on what you are drawing, but I've got a couple plans. I've been doodling a chibi-narwhal for my cetacean icons, but if anyone would like to see a specific kind of cetacean done (mysticete or odontocete, even those freaky toothed whales I could give a try, but I'll have to rely mainly on my Carwardine-interpreted versions of the species) as an icon, ye only have to ask. ^_^ I would be happy to try out any kind of species someone would like. I'm also considering entering Arkon's revised art contest for 100 bucks, but I'm not sure I could get anything done in time... Worth a shot, I suppose.

*sigh* I really hope things look up soon... Everything's just gone downhill since Svecke left. I want my squeezy Irrawaddy back. ;_;
