Day 4 of the diet. Some people have asked me what kind of diet I'm on. I tell them that I'm just eating less and healthier, in general. Some of those people have said they don't think such a nonspecific plan can work. They say that I should be more explicit about my diet goals: low fat, low carbs, etc. The problem I encounter with such logic is this: diets are hard. I don't want to have to research and crunch numbers to figure out what I should be eating. I think I can make a reasonable effort without resorting to such specifics. For instance, I'm eating fewer fried foods. I'm choosing chicken sandwhiches over burgers. I eat fruit for breakfast. I'm drinking water instead of sodas. Most importantly of all to me, I'm eating a lot less. I have a 6" subway sandwhich instead of a 12". I have a salad, maybe. I don't stop for a cheeseburger snack on the way home. I eat one helping at dinner.
Only time will tell how successful I am. My numeric goal is to weight 250 by 5/29/05. My bathroom scale says I weight 296, but I think it gets less accurate near it's limit of 300. Still, I can use it as a guide. Even if the numbers aren't accurate, they'll still go down if I lose weight.
Current scale reading: 296.
Goal: 250 (-46)
