Miguel V.S. Carl...Road Rage!

My day at work yesterday wasn't all that. The new volunteers have absolutely no work ethic, and it kind of effects my motivation to even train them. It’s like they have complaints about everything! "Why does this food smell so bad?" "Isn't there an easier way to drain this tank?" And the most amusing question I heard was "Why didn't anybody tell me I was going to get soaking wet?" Idiot, you work in an Aquarium...what you thought you were going to get burned instead? Even though they are giving me a bit of a hard time, I still remained very clam with them. Although I wish these two were cool like the other girl I worked with a few months back. Of course I'm not going to act like "Mr. Sunshine" and make them put on a happy face. They would probably think I am a freak if I did that. This is their second weekend working here, but they still act as if they have a cactus shoved up their butt. I'm not going to send them home or anything; don't think that would solve anything. They need the community service hours for school and I get tired of hearing on the news students dropping out because their parents, teachers, and bosses give them a hard time. So I figured it would be best to work with them for a bit longer.

So after dealing with the annoying duo, Toriano and Lisa (my superiors) wanted two of us to come with them for some fish collecting. So I was chosen to come along, and the 4th person to come with us was my choice. I asked the girl, but she was more concerned with her nails, which is understandable...I guess. So I took the guy with me instead. I kind of forgot his name, so let's call him Carl. So Lisa and Toriano sat in the front of the truck, while Carl and I sat in the back part. I simply love sitting in the back of the truck, seeing all the different colors being displayed by the ocean and the cars, while the wind beats on your face gives me a nice feeling. I'm going to assume Carl wasn't using his brain because he sat on the actual edge of the truck. "I wouldn’t' sit there..." I calmly said. "Why not," he shot back! "Wait for it.." I thought to myself. A few seconds later, Toriano started to reverse kind of fast and the jerk from the truck made Carl almost fall off! I was amazed at my speed, he was losing his balance and I quickly sat up, and grabbed his leg before he was going to fall over. Then I pulled him and let him back in and he kind of fell on his face. I didn't laugh, but after asking him if he was ok, I told him "I'm sure you now know why you shouldn't sit on the side of the truck when it’s in motion. I want to know how come Toriano didn't see him doing that when he was reversing. But whatever...I took care of it.

So were riding...and riding...and the drive feels like an eternity. Normally I would love the company...but not today. I just wanted to think to myself for a little while. BJ sent me a few text messages that had my mind in a mess again. But I guess Carl couldn't take a hint that I didn't want to talk. I just sat there listening to Carl's recounting of a party he went to the night before. For a while I was interested, but as Carl went on and on and on about what his mutual acquaintance was wearing, I lost interest. From there I continued to let my mind drift. All of a sudden, I felt something on my leg. It was a cockroach. I must have had a "WTF" look on my face, but I didn't freak. But really...what is the chance of a roach landing on you while sitting in the back of a truck as it moves at extreme speeds? I didn't kill the roach, just gave it a minor slap, which caused it to fly in Carl's face area. Carl kept slapping the space in front of his face for while. "CARL...the roach flew away like 3 minutes ago! Sit down and calm yourself...the woman in the car behind us might get the wrong idea." "Just shut up! Damn it…you do that on purpose. You have no idea what that was like!" I just sighed to myself and shook my head. "You clown, that damn bug was on me first, was it not?" Feeling cheap, he finally sat down and enjoyed the rest of the truck ride. The guy wanted to fight me! First of all, what a time to fight. I mean the truck was moving for one, my bosses were in the front, and I don’t really fight anyway. It’s a waste of energy, and I prefer to only fight if it was a serious matter. And this simply wasn’t worth my time.

We must have argued for the whole ride! And he isn't the kind of guy you can tune out. I mean it wasn't as if I could walk away...I was on a moving truck, lol. Although I should have tossed him out! But we both acted like best friends in front of my bosses, and we had to laugh because it was funny. Hopefully the two of us can get along next weekend. Although it wasn't me...I'm only looking out for him while he's on the job. No need for him to get offensive every time I suggest something that is for his own good. That ungrateful little urchin.
