United We Stand
~A portion of an article I typed up that was in Bermuda'a Royal Gazette in 2005~
Friends are very powerful factors that shape an individual’s life. In some other cases ones friends may be the only family they have. Since they lack the love from a parent(s) they have another form of support to fall back on. Each an every single one of us as will encounter those who will take advantage of those who lack parental love. One can’t expect the child to know better, they are tricked in believing they must do “whatever it takes to survive.” But there are people out there who are true friends. The ones that truly encourage you when you feel your parents aren’t enough. True friends explain to you when you do something wrong, and explain to you that failure is indeed an option. After all failure does indeed lead to success.
For those students who have no support from family or friends have no choice but to face the community. At this point angered an alone teens feel as though the whole world is against them. The feeling of being labeled with a mark of stigma causes them to believe they are losers with no hope of success. After they are judged, and no one accepts them as who they are, or even a child with amazing potential, they develop the thought that the community is there enemy. But not all communities reject these types of teens. Some individuals who are not blinded by the thought of them being superior often adopt them, because they see something inside of them that others don’t. Which is the ability to succeed. If various communities spent less time “judging a book by its cover” they will never know what that individual is capable of until they open up their minds.
Overall everyone has what it takes to fulfill their dreams, no matter how bleak or farfetched it may seem. It is just up to us to discover that ability within ourselves. But of course sometimes we need little assistants in actually discovering it. It’s in there but we must all look deeper in ourselves to believe it is there. “To me it is kind of redundant hating each other for countless reasons, in the end aren’t we all going to get along?” So why do we continue to prolong the day we will live as one?
