Old Stalker Dude At Work
Some sick stuff happened at work today. Ok so I'm walking through the hallways at the Aquarium and I notice a long trail of water. So me being the instinctual type decided to follow it. Bout a minute later I discover the source. It was coming from a diver, Norvel, who was still dripping wet. He apparently jumped out of the North Rock tank upon witnessing a strange old man harassing one of our female JVs (Junior Volunteers). According to Norvell, the man touched the girl's shoulder in a massaging like way multiple times, so she jumped up and questioned him. Although Norvell couldn't hear what was being said at the time due to being underwater and all, the body language was enough for him to jump out and react. At this point, Norvell confronted the man and threatened to call the police.
By the time I arrive, the old man had left minutes later. I had so many thoughts rushing through my head at the time. Upon hearing the disturbing news, I quickly ran outside to see if I saw the man. By the time I had made it outside he was already across the bridge. It was then that on of my coworkers told me the girl's father as been contacted and I'm not even sure if he had already called the police. The thing is I saw the JV, who is fourteen by the way, sitting in front of the tank like five or ten minutes prior to the incident. I won't lie, I wish I had stuck around. I'm dying to know what my personal reaction would have been. For the rest of that day I kept replaying the possible scenarios in my head.
Would I have gotten completely out of character, gripped this old guy by his shirt and ask him "what the f*** are you doing?!" Or would I have taken a strictly verbal approach and fended him off with words. Or, would I have taken the girl away from this "creper" and fled straight to my superiors? I kind of wish he hadn't gotten so far. I was so tempted to confront him. I have no clue what I would have done. Perhaps it was best that I wasn't there at the time. Maybe people like me aren't suited to deal with trash like him. I have no clue.
But this old man apparently has a long history of his sick interest in young girls. In fact, my former boss, Lisa, told me when she was younger that very same man use to stalk her female friends back in high school. My question is, how is it possible that a guy like this still hasn't been dealt with yet. Its crazy! I hope that girl's father calls the police on that man.
