Kame breathed out heavily, exhaling the toxic smoke from his lungs, his head in a mess. For the second time he can’t believe that he had done something so reckless.

He drops his cigarette onto the ground and steps on it, glancing at his watch. Koki is late.

Kame touches his lips remembering the kisses he had shared with Jin and that memory makes him groan loudly enough for people walking around to stop and stare. He had been too deep in his thought that he didn’t realize that people are watching him.

“Whoa, that is one big mess.”

“I’m not making a mess,” Kame snaps back and when Koki looked at him strangely, gesturing at the cigarette butts at his feet, he can feel himself blushes by his sudden outburst.

“Cranky,” Koki commented and Kame clicks his tongue in annoyance, “No I am not.”

He then watches the other walks closer and leans against the rail, standing beside him.

“You seem to have a problem. You sounded panic when you called.”

Kame turns around to look at the ocean in front of him and sighs as he says, “I am a bad cheating man.”

“Cheating?”

He glances at his friend and smiles guiltily. “I think I liked Jin.”

Koki gasps softly before leaning closer to him, “What?”

“I’m not sure if it is serious,” Kame says, feeling nervous with the look Koki is giving him, “But… I do know that I liked his…” he bits his lower lip, “… kisses…”

“What?” Koki looked at him in disbelief but then, regaining his composure, he clears his throat, “I don’t think that this is the best place to talk about your problem.”

Kame nods his head giving the other a strange look. “I know that.”

Koki rolls his eyes as he hits him upside the head, “So why are you talking about it here?”

He rubs the back of his neck as he smiles ruefully, “My place?”

His friend smiles and gives him a pat on the head, “But you better make some food for me. I’m skipping lunch just to meet you, you know.”

“I know.”

And as they walk away from the area, Koki puts his arm around his shoulder and says in assurance, “Don’t worry Kame-chan. I’ll listen to you and we can think of the solution together.”

Kame smiles at that, feeling grateful. It is not that he can’t talk about it with Yucchi or Taguchi. But, he feels more at ease when talking about these kinds of things with Koki.

“Wow…” his friend looked at him in disbelief. “It does sounds like a drama. You know there this one drama that says, ‘Love is just like catching a taxi, there are times when you called out for them, they didn’t even stop but there are also times, two taxi came to you at the same time and you just don’t know what to do’.”

Kame grins at the metaphor feeling a little bit amused by it.

“You are in the same kind of situation aren’t you Kame-chan?”

He nods his head.

“Who do you like more?”

Kame purses his lips thoughtfully, and then sighs, “I’m not sure. One of them is my boyfriend and the other is my best friend.”

Koki furrows his brows, “Logically, if we see it in the feeling’s stability aspect, it would be Shiraishi-kun of course. You know very well that he likes you but then it is different when it comes to Jin.”

He nods his head, allowing the other to continue, “Are you really sure that Jin likes you? And the same goes to you. Are you really sure that you liked Jin? What if, those feelings that you and Jin had are just in spur of the moment?”

“And if you did choose Shiraishi-kun, do you think it will be okay for Jin? Well, if he is serious about you of course.”

Kame doesn’t have an answer to that.

“What did you do last night?”

Jin glances up. Ueda is staring at him with a brow raised questioningly.

“Nothing,” he shrugs. “Why are you asking?”

He watches the older man bends down to pick up something behind the sofa.

“I don’t think that this belongs to me.”

Jin stares at the object in Ueda’s hand and when he recognizes it, his heart skips a beat. So that’s what Kame had been searching for frantically that morning.

“And I don’t think that this is yours too,” Ueda shows him that familiar bracelet that practically everyone knows who it’s belongs too.

“Is Kame here last night?”

Jin nods his head. It will be pointless to lie now.

“And from what I see around in this studio, I assume that he spends the night here?”

He doesn’t answer to that and somehow his silence gives an answer to the other for Ueda had sighed.

“Jin, I know that it is none of my business but do you realize what you are in right now?”

“Yeah,” he replies nonchalantly, “I know.”

Ueda sighs again and Jin knows very well what the other is thinking right now. That he screwed it big time.

“This may sounds cruel to you, but are you really sure that Kame likes you the same way you do? And are you sure that Kame is going to chose you when in 2 weeks time he is suppose to go to the States with his boyfriend?”

Jin stares back at his friend and in a firm voice, he says, “I don’t care. I don’t care if he chooses me or not.”

“But have you thought about what Kame would be feeling right now?”

Ueda groans softly as soon as he says that, muttering, “Oh god, I am contradicting myself. I know I shouldn’t have pushed you and Kame together.”

Jin feels something prick his heart. He knows that he and Kame could never be together. His timing is always off when it comes to Kame.

“You don’t have to worry. He’ll choose Shiraishi-kun.”

Ueda looked at him in disbelief, “Are you really serious with him or are you just moving along with your feelings in spur of the moment?”

Jin keeps his mouth shut. He really doesn’t want to talk about this anymore. Though Kame hadn’t said anything bad that morning but the way the other had reacted to his touches makes him sure that Kame regretted what they had done last night.

“Jin, I’m talking to you.”

He grits his teeth, turning to look at Ueda. “I am serious about him okay? So can we just lay this off? I really don’t want to talk about it anymore.”

“Oh Jin...” Ueda’s voice is soft and sympathetic.

“I’m fine,” Jin replies looking down to his notebook, “This is just like before.”

Though Ueda had said it softly, he could hear it very well, “It is not. This is not just like before.”

He doesn’t reply to that because he knows that what his friend had said is true.

Before he had harbored these feelings, Kame is a friend and after what had happened he isn’t sure if he still had that same friendship with the younger man anymore. Knowing that, make it hurts even more.

*************************************************************************************

Kame stands in front of the door nervously and when Yuu opens it with an expectant smile on his face, he can feel his heart dropped.

“Come on in.”

He takes a deep breath before he entered the apartment. It had taken him 3 days to think about it and he had made his decision. He won’t turn back whatever the circumstances are.

Kame sits down at the sofa, the same sofa where he and Yuu had shared their first kiss. Licking his lip nervously, Kame starts to speak.

“Yuu… I… I don’t think I can come with you to the State.”

Yuu looked at him strangely before waving his hand dismissively, saying, “It’s okay, I know you still had your work. You can go later.”

“I’m sorry…”

The younger man just smiles and when finally the fact dawns on him, he furrows his brows looking hurt and confused. Kame looks down to his feet, avoiding the other’s searching eyes.

“Why?”

“I don’t think it will be fair to you, if I follow you to the State when a part of me still left here.”

After pulling himself together, he looks up to the other and smiles sadly. “I do like you, I really do but, I… I just realized that I liked someone else too.”

The room is silent for no one dared to speak. Thinking that Yuu might not want to see his face anymore, he stands up and is about to walk to the door when the younger man speaks up.

“So you are going to that person, Kamenashi-san?”

Kame rocked in his heels nervously waiting for Jin to come back to the studio and remembers the conversation he had with Yuu. He could still remembers the devastated look on Yuu’s face when he says that he want to break up.

He sighs loudly, as he squats down to the floor, covering his face with his arms. He had made his choice and though he knows that it will hurt, he had to face it too. A real man has to be brave to face the consequences he had put himself into. It is his own fault that he is in this mess.

“What are you doing here?”

He looks up towards the voice. Jin is giving him a strange look though he can see the hopeful expression on the other’s face. He smiles slightly as he replies.

“I came here to see you.”
