A/N: this is inspired by a song with the same title as the fic 'Somewhere over the rainbow'. Another addition at the genre (^^) that is what happen when you listened to a lot of Utada Hikaru's song and for this fic, it's 'Take 5'. It has been long since I updated this one, so here it is :)

Ryo read the address for the third time then glanced up at the building in front of him. He wasn’t sure if he had come to the right place. From what he had known about the person he’s been looking for, he had expected that the house would look… quieter and cleaner?

He read the profile again. Kamenashi Kazuya… 19 years old… a prodigy in mechanical science…

“Yes?”

He was face to face with a man with long floppy hair, and a wide smile.

“Is there someone with the name of Kamenashi Kazuya living here?”

The man looked at him warily and he was taken aback when the other suddenly grinned.

“Ah… Kame-chan?”

“Ka…me…-chan?” Ryo repeated the name slowly, feeling a little bit confused.

He had estimated that the meeting would be simple. That he would meet this one particular boy name Kamenashi Kazuya, discuss about the prototype that the other had done in his research, negotiate for the patent and then leave, but somehow, Ryo knew that it wouldn’t be that simple.

Especially when he saw the said boy…

“You mean that he got into an accident and lost all his knowledge?” Ryo asked in disbelief then continued, “And he got crazy this one night and burned down all his notes?”

The man with floppy hair nodded his head.

“I can’t believe this!” he groaned out loud in frustration.

“I am really sorry…” the man with the floppy hair whom he had known as Kimura-san, apologized earnestly.

Damn it… now what was he to say to his superior?

“I know…” his superior replied calmly when he had dejectedly told his superior on the phone.

“Pardon?”

Ryo was getting more confused now. If his superior had known about it all this while, why did he ask him to go and seek for the other?

“I only wanted you to go there and meet this Kamenashi boy.”

He furrowed his brows in confusion.

“What did you think when you saw him?” his superior asked and he didn’t know why but he kind of disliked the tone the other was using. Ryo turned to look at the boy at the counter.

“I don’t understand…”

“Nishikido-kun you are now looking at the prototype.”

Ryo blinked in disbelief. “What?”

He knew that he was being too loud, for the boy at the counter turned to him and flashed him a wide smile. And it looked so real.

“Is there any problem Nishikido-san?” the boy asked politely and he could feel someone’s gaze on him.

“No,” he suddenly snapped, his head in a jumbled mess and when he saw the hurt look on the boy’s face he couldn’t help feeling bad. But then, the thought that the boy was actually not human confused him.

“Excuse me…” he walked away from the area and then continued his conversation.

He knew that he was talking with his superior but he couldn’t calm himself down after knowing the true fact about the boy.

“Is it the truth?” he asked urgently, keeping his voice as low as he could.

“Yes.”

“But… what happened to the real one? Is he actually…”

“He died in a car accident last year,” his superior at the other end of the line replied calmly, cutting him off.

Ryo took a deep breath and released it slowly, pinching the bridge of his nose; there were too many facts in a day. “What do you actually want me to do?”

“Kamenashi-kun had refused to give us the patent for the prototype. I want you to bring that boy to me.”

He couldn’t believe what he had heard. Is it that important to get the patent that his superior had to do anything to get his hands on it?

“I…”

“This is an order Nishikido-kun and I hope that you will get it done.”

“I…”

And the line was off. He gave out an incredulous scoff. All of this was just too… absurd. How would he persuade the boy to follow him back when they barely knew each other? Not to mention that what he was trying to do now was actually illegal.

He tucked his phone back in his pocket and glanced back towards the boy at the counter.

A prototype? He looked so real…

“Nishikido-san? Do you need anything?”

He opened his eyes and was staring straight at Kame’s concern face. Kame… that’s what the boy wanted Ryo to call him. Turtle… well, he did think that it suited the boy very much.

A week had passed and Ryo still didn’t have any idea on how to make the boy follow him back to the city without anyone getting suspicious. His time was running out.

“Aren’t you bored staying here Kame?”

The boy blinked curiously and to his delight it did attract the younger one’s attention when the other pulled a seat, and sat beside him.

“What do you mean Nishikido-san?”

“This,” he gestured at the surroundings. “Don’t you want to go to the city?”

“City?” Kame repeated then looked around him before shaking his head. “I don’t want to go to the city.”

Ryo frowned. “Why?” he asked, raising a questioning brow. He had expected that Kame would be easily persuaded because of the fact that he was an android, a very curious android that looked so real but was all man-made.

“I like it here.”

You are programmed to like this place… he said to himself still not giving up in persuading the other.

“But, I really dare to say that you would like the city when you see it.”

Kame furrowed his brows, as if thinking about what he had said and Ryo took the time to look closely at the boy in front of him, and noted that the other had looked so real that even though he had been staying at the inn for a week, it was still hard for him to believe that Kame was not human.

He really wanted to touch the other. But… it would be strange if he suddenly reached out and…

“Nishikido-san?” Kame’s voice broke his thoughts and that made him realize that he had already touched the younger boy.

Ryo quickly moved his hand away from the boy, as if the contact burned him. “Sorry…”

Kame smiled, shaking his head. “It’s okay.”

Somehow feeling flustered, Ryo looked everywhere except for the younger boy’s face and cleared his throat, “So, give what I said about the city a thought will you?”

“I will Nishikido-san.”

And Kame left. Ryo could feel his heart beating furiously against his chest. Warm… he noted. Kame felt warm…

He glanced up, watching the said boy talking happily with Kimura-san and couldn’t stop himself from smiling too. Kame’s smiles looked so sincere that it made him feel that he was the worst person on earth for attempting to trick the boy to follow him to the city.

Ryo sighed softly, leaning back against the lazy chair and closed his eyes.

.................................................................................................................

Ryo sat down on the younger boy’s bed, gazing at the sleeping boy. He knew that he had done the right thing when he refused to hand Kame away and now, every time he looked at the other, he could feel his heart swell with different emotions.

He touched the other’s cheek gently, reveling in the warmth that Kame had exuded onto his skin.

“I would do anything to protect you… even if it means that I have to lose you to your brother.”

Jin shivered slightly as he rubbed his hands together in an attempt to make himself feel warm. He didn’t want to retreat back to his room just yet and what Ryo had said earlier that night kept on repeating in his head.

He heaved out a sigh and feeling that it had already gotten colder he finally made up his mind to go back to the inn and take a rest. He could continue to think about it tomorrow.

It was quiet when he entered the inn, and he was walking down the hallway towards his room when he heard voices coming out from a room.

Kame’s room.

He didn’t mean to pry and just continued on walking but when he heard his name, his legs stopped.

“What do you mean Ryo-chan?” It was Kame’s voice. “That you wanted to tell my brother about it?”

Tell me? Jin moved closer against the wall, feeling a little bit curious.

“He had to know.”

“I don’t think that it is that important for him to know about it.” Kame said stubbornly.

“But he’s the one who is going to look out for you. He’s your only family.”

A soft scoff and it was said in a whisper but because of the silence surrounded them, Jin could hear what Kame said very well.

“I don’t have a family Ryo-chan… I’m not even human.”

Jin couldn’t believe what he had heard. Kame… was not human? He could hear Kame and Ryo continue their conversation but the only thing that kept repeating in his head was…

I’m not even human…
