Doctor McCrimmon sat by himself in the cafe, for once a book in front of him instead of the constant pile of grading and term papers. Next to the book though, was an ancient laptop, barely capable of holding a word processor together. He was grateful for the respite, since the next semester was coming up soon, but something was bothering him. It'd been getting to him in flashes, briefly, in dreams. A girl. A girl he'd ... that was right. That was from his book. That's why he couldn't remember. He hadn't written her yet, and she was still bounding about in his head like a lark. Rosie. Roselyn. Roseann. He didn't know what to call her. Maybe Jessica would be a better idea. Then again, images of the blastedly annoying and somehow popular superstar came to his mind and he grimaced. Setting the book he'd been reading down on its spine, he reached over and dragged the ancient laptop closer to him. Then, he stretched out his long fingers over the keyboard and began to type, his fingers fiercely pushing into the old keys.
The scene started with running. His characters always seemed to be running, so he changed it to walking. They were walking down the street in a city that didn't exist anymore.
... Obviously, the pale-eyed man was deep in thought, and completely unawares of his surroundings.
