The demon knew there was something different in the air; it smelt of pomegranates and lemons, soaking in deep rich blood of naivety and brutality. It was intoxicating and felt like a syringe with an oversized needle that dug so deeply into the crease of hir arm that would have eventually reached the bone. Belial followed the scent with anticipation in hir top hat, decadent elegance, painted face and a cane with a skull on the hint. Sie fingered the skulls eye sockets with long blackened fingernails.

Recently the demon could have been found in the warehouse filled with child half-eaten corpses and bony thin carcass’ however, once a dark-skinned young woman was in sight, the demon slid up behind hir like a serpent with bared fangs and let hir thumb briefly massage under the skull, letting a small sound of metal emitting from it and said with venom laced whispers. "Ah, my. Such a pretty little thing, are you not?" Sie did not even notice that the apartment building which towered over them housed the scarred swordsman.

It was coincidence, more than anything, as to why Casca wasn't simply murdered then at there -- coincidence that Fuyumine had decided to see off the girl today, instead of simply letting her wander off on her own -- coincidence that he stood at the entrance to the building, idly watching her amble off. What wasn't coincidence, was that he felt the malice before it was visible -- the Mad Hatter always did carry the scent of desecration with her. He only had to watch for a moment, to take in the play of slender fingers over dark skin, and the slightest movement of too-red lips before he knew that this wouldn't end very prettily ( ... )

One moment, she was aware of the apple resting prettily on her head; the next, it was rolling away from her on the sidewalk, and she had a hand to her chest where the brand eternally marked her skin above her right breast. Casca fisted the fabric of her shirt damp to her touch - damp with blood. It was bleeding. A terrible, terrible feeling made the hair at the back of her neck stand on end.

Ah, my. Such a pretty little thing, are you not?

Something about the lavish voice spoken oh-so-sickly-sweet behind her made her skin crawl. "Aaaau... uouuu..." She murmured quietly as if talking to herself--

Then another voice. A familiar one. The Man was between them in one swift motion, sword at ready. Her eyes followed the light glittering off the blade before resting at his back, then settling on hir. Something pressed at the base of her skull most uncomfortably.

Sie was quickly to remove that pretty little head from that pretty little neck and proceed to do what sie was to wish with it, and yet! - Hir sword was not even unsheathed from the cane! Ah - such an old-fashioned way of killing, yes, but always so effective and clean, and Belial would have liked the young woman’s corpse to be clean-cut in s many little pieces and placed on a platter. Oh surely, entrails exploding would have been much more entertaining, a bloodied mess, but where was the elegance in that ( ... )

This being, this demon -- this walking travesty -- everything about Belial had the tendency to raise muted feelings of disgust in him. Yet Fuyumine did little to show it, merely watching as sie let hir hands kiss against the blade, the poison that served as her blood staining the ground drip by drop. The clash of metal, surprisingly strong, and he let his blade fall into a defensive stance, gray eyes never tearing away from her, even as the candy was offered force ( ... )

She didn't have the sense to flee; even if she was intelligent enough to sense the innate wrongness of the figure standing before her, she wasn't aware enough to realize that she should be running in the opposite direction. Or, perhaps, cowardice didn't sit right with her somewhere beneath the surface of that childish exterior. Regardless the reason, she lifted a hand slowly to grasp one of Fuyumine's sleeves, the other clenched tight at her chest.

The pain was intense the closer in proximity the demon was. She grit her teeth, making quiet, unsettled noises. "...Uouu." She was staring at the candy, but didn't seem ready to take it, yet.

Belial pursed hir lips briefly, eyes did not drag out of the vision of the young woman. A brief harden stare and a step closer before sie turned back to the other who tried to continue the quest to find heroism. Belial chuckled softly under hir breath, waving the sweet with hir finger in a hypnotizing gesture to the woman that stood behind the large man.

"Ah - Fuyumine! You do must understand that tis not only the little lavish voice that appears to be attractive to one such as this poor fool but something so much delicious!" Sie purred with another step forward and the swinging of hir cane with the flinging motion of hir wrist, and then sie leaned over. "Well! - How unfortunate, pretty little thing! Your chest, it bleeds and the man did not even notice! Perhaps this fool will be allowed to tend to it~?"

So that was where the faint scent of blood had been coming from. Risking a glance back, he noted the trickle of red against dark skin, visible past the clutch of the small hand -- had she been hurt? there hadn't been an opportunity for that, he knew, then why was she bleeding? had Belial already done something? Questions that instantly shot through his mind, but he pushed away -- the 'why's of survival were never important, only the 'how's, and he looked back to see Belial draw closer, accompanied by the glimmering arc of the cane through the air ( ... )

Her body was trembling; maintaining a close distance to their guest was problematic. She watched the Man's eyes connect with hers, if only for a second, staring blankly back before returning her attention to the sweet dangled in a painted hand.

Sie was wrong... But was sie bad?

Casca reached forward to quickly snatch the candy from hir grasp before sie could change her mind and stuck it petulantly in hir mouth without unwrapping it.

Belial beamed such a false-friendly smile towards the young woman when she took the candy in her mouth - the idiot could not unwrap it! how adorable! - with hir inward mocking sie let out a dark vicious growl. Yes, the candy was not what it may seem, it was not poisonous of course! The demon would never do such a terrible thing!

"Ah! One believed that you happen to be wrong!, as always." Came the demon’s replied with a low growl, of course this one was much more laced with poison and evil intentions. Belial pulled off hir hate and then dug hir arm, all of it, into the felt object to pull out...a...ice-cream!, then sie presented it to Fuyumine, "Perhaps one can cool that vigorous temper of yours, hmm?"

Gray eyes scrutinized carefully as the candy was taken, wrapping and all -- he had no way of knowing whether it was poisonous or not, a gamble, as always -- though the demon's attitude suggested the latter. No doubt sie would have shown a different level of glee and disappointment, had the girl tried to eat the unwrapped poisonous candy. It was only grudgingly that he released his grip on the slender white wrist, lowering his hand back to the handle of his sword -- though the hard stare that he fixed on her never wavered, even as the confection was offered forth.

"I don't need it." The anger had drained out of his voice, leaving it an apathetic flat, but the way his movements were tense, his shoulders squared, eyes fixed upon that venomous smile, suggested that he was far from relaxed around her. (The sword, too, he would have long since sheathed for anyone else -- but here, and now, his instinct told him to keep his claws bared.) "What exactly do you want from her."

Casca gnawed on the wrapped candy diligently before removing it from her mouth to investigate it, frustrated. It looked like it was supposed to taste good, but all it was, was plastic. Disappointed, she slowly glanced between the Man and the Clown, oblivious to the tension between them.

With this momentary distraction forgotten, she hid slightly behind Fuyumine's arm, fingers tightening in their hold of his sleeve, before a shaky hand cautiously extended the wrapped lollipop back to it's former owner, complete with drool. It appeared she didn't want it any more.

It was rather disappointing on how the man released hir wrist. Why! - Belial thought that perhaps he would take hir to some private place and then they could share a moment in slaughter and certain ecstasy! But alas, the rejection was a rather familiar one and with the ice-cream in hand, Belial let it drop and once it was only a few inches from the ground, it erupted into a gust of ravens.

Belial, then, leaned against Fuyumine in a sensual manner, hir spider-like hands fell flat against his clothed chest and sie looked up at him with vicious indulgence hinted with desire and innocence. "Oh...is that so, sweet dearest Fuyumine? Perhaps and maybe and perhaps this fool could offer something coated with lavish honey and much more tempting." Sie purred with a serpent’s tongue and then hir direction was brought towards the young woman. Without any hesitation, the demon took the candy and unwrapped it with utter ease before handing it back, licking the excess saliva from hir other hand.

The hands pressed against hist chest, spidery fingers fanning across his shirt, and the flock of ravens that burst upwards -- taking to the sky in a mess of screeching feathers. This was the way it always was, always had been with the Jester -- a constant parade of barely-contained lust, tinged with the bitter aftertaste of brutality. Crooned words were met only with a harsh glare, and Fuyumine answered with a half-shake of the head. "I'll pass."

Gray eyes tore away from the too-bright smile, instead watching as the unwrapped candy was held forward. Even with his keen sense of smell, he couldn't catch the scent of anything more than flavored sugar. In either case, it was doubtful that Belial would do anything as subtle as poison the girl with a hidden toxin -- no, that was far too crafty, far too subdued. The Jester had always been one for flashy shows. And so he merely stood quietly, still attempting to provide some shield between the two others.

Piecing together the fact that the brand on her chest and the proximity between her and Belial seemed to be connected was apparently beyond her. She seemed to be gathering a meager amount of trust for the strangely dressed creature; someone who offered her something she could stick in her mouth and tasted good couldn't be all bad in her world, after all. She reached out tentatively, this time more confident, and placed the lollipop in her mouth.

"Aouu," she said 'round the stick protruding from her lips, contented to be distracted from the most uncomfortable pain radiating beneath her right hand.

Oh no, the scarred man was completely wrong. The candy was indeed poison, but with what? It could have been nothing but a simple aphrodisiac or a deadly poison, perhaps a certain medicine or even drugs. However, the effects would not let the young woman suddenly die, since the demon hirself was somewhat curious about the blood that leaked from her chest. Belial pressed hirself against the man even closer, a snakish smile danced along red painted lips as blue hues watched over the dark-skinned pretty thing ( ... )
