If Nill had been any other child in Abyss-any other child-she probably would have taken that first opportunity (the second the man turned his back, if only for that brief little span of time) to run as fast and as far as she could; after all, most of the children in Abyss didn’t start out there, and had their own reasons. Most children didn’t want to be found or taken care of, and the situation wasn’t so entirely different for Nill, differing only in the fact that she didn’t want to be a burden to anyone. (not again.) But, simply following the older boy for a minute or two... that wouldn’t make her a burden, right?

Pulling her blanket-sheet, cloth, whatever you really wanted to call it-closer to herself, the not-quite-angel stood and stepped out from behind the pile of rubbish, hesitantly taking a few bare-footed steps forward, but not really going much closer than that. He was talking about food, now? A briefly puzzled expression flickered across her features. What was ramen? It sounded slightly foreign, and she was more than certain that it wasn’t something that she’d--

Without having meant to let it, the girls stomach let out not-terribly-loud-but-still-audible groan of protest, a light pink shade tinting her cheeks as it did so; she knew what ‘mac and cheese’ was, of course, what kid didn’t? And, it had certainly been awhile since she’d eaten last...

The man’s eyes were still lowered to the cart as he fiddled with a few objects on it, maneuvering them off to one side as if to make some room on the surface. Once he was done apparently busying himself with it he straightened up to cast a glance over his shoulder to see that little ghost lingering a few steps closer. Poor kid, being lost out here of all places it was a miracle she wasn’t picked up already and killed, or worse.

Eyebrows lifted as his eyes widened a little at the noise that apparently came from a empty tummy-he couldn’t help but smile with a shake of his head, “Come on you can sit on the cart here-“ A gloved hand maneuvered to the area that was bare on the hovering machine. Gently he weaved that hand forward again to sink into a pocket and pull out a plastic wrapped red lollipop which- he held out to the girl, either to tide her over before he’d make her something or-to lure her onto the cart already.

Tch Yeah Spanner, the stranger offering kids candy… Of course he didn’t mean any harm; he just accidentally filled that stereotype apparently.

The pink flush fading just a little from her cheeks, the girl’s line of sight trailed slightly to the side and downward at the odd, hovering device, a curious expression now overtaking her features; of course, being locked up in some lab for most of her life, it wasn’t as though she’d ever really gotten the chance to see something like that before. (had most people?) But the curiosity didn’t last very long as, out of the corner of her eye, she saw the blond pull a small stick wrapped in plastic out of his pocket, and Nill knew in less than an instant what it was. A lollipop.

Candy. Ahh, yes, she was one of those terribly naïve children, one of the ones that could never think something bad of a seemingly kind person offering them candy. Pedophile? No, something like that would never cross her mind. Though still somewhat hesitantly, she stepped forward until she was about two feet away from the man and reached out one of her hands (terribly thin, from where her fingers started to where the sheer covered the rest of her body) and carefully took the treat from the man, offering up a very small smile in return. (it wasn’t as though she could actually thank him, after all.) Holding on to the lollipop in one hand, she then looked again towards the cart, unsure of what to do. Would something like that really hold her up? ...well, there had been other things on it before, and there hadn’t seemed to be any real problem, so..

Still carefully-she didn’t want to accidently break it, though she didn’t exactly think that she wouldn’t-Nill moved to sit down on the cart, though ready to jump off if at any moment it seemed like it might stop working.

The gloved fingers released the small plastic stick into the child’s hand as he took a few steps back to walk around over to the back of that hovering device. Planting hands on a metal railing used to guide the object held it there while waiting for the little ghost, ratted sheet in tow to clamber onto it-when she did he tipped his frame over to one side to make sure she was completely on board.

The object itself did not budge or dip in the slightest, the only thing it did do was the humming seemed to grow just a little louder and the vibration of the working device amplified just a little more. With a clothed palm he pushed, making the object glide along the air, spreading the dim violet light out from underneath.

Well he had his scrap and that’s all that truly mattered to him in particularly. He didn’t bother asking the little girl a bunch of questions, after all she hadn’t even spoken yet-which for the time Spanner disregarded for perhaps shyness- maybe he’d find out about her little problem once he got her to a safer environment, “Huh…Maybe get you something better to wear…” he said to the air as he thought out loud to himself guiding the electronic cart along the darkened area of Abyss.

The instant that the man began moving the device (Vehicle? Could it possibly be somewhere in that class, and she was simply unaware of it at that time?) Nill moved away slightly from the edge, almost as though she were afraid she might fall off; or, perhaps, that it was suddenly start flying up into the air, and she’d simply be stuck atop it. A silly response, all things considered, but there were certainly worse. After the first few moments of gliding along like that, she gradually began to unwrap the lollipop that had been given to her, looking at the obvious bright red color of the sugary treat once done before popping it into her mouth, still holding on to the little plastic stick with the middle, pointer finger, and thumb of her right hand, the wrapper now held in her left.

It wasn’t so hard to tell that he wasn’t actually talking to her when he spoke of finding her something else to wear-really, he’d been talking to himself mostly since he popped up, why would that change?-but the child looked down at her own, tattered and faded little dress regardless, as though trying to inspect it for something wrong. After all, it was all she really owned, and she herself could see nothing wrong with it; though even she had to admit, it could probably use a wash. And besides, weren’t clothes somewhat expensive? Looking back up at the man with the single swirl in his hair, Nill tilted her head slightly to the side, taking the lollipop out of her mouth; apparently trying to convey something along the lines of ‘you don’t need to do that’ with her expression alone. Not like she could really do it any other way.
