Who:Minato Arisato, Hamuko Arisato Where: Terra highschool When: best school period ever Lunchtime Summary: so two TeenJesus' walk into a lunchroom-- Rating: ...pg-13? Other: WE'RE LAZY OKAY don't judge us.
[Hamuko had been trying to think of what to do lately. School was never a problem. Things had been upside down since she saw the accidental video feed on the network. Her past didn't bother her - not usually. But, seeing a boy that looked so much like her big brother did bother her.
She had kept to herself that lunch period. She sank down into a seat of an empty table, placing her forehead on her arms as she blared the rest of the world out with her mp3 player.]
[Minato would've been more than content to just block out the world around him--the people from the battle royale, the ones with grandparents or parents or siblings that had died in the past year, because death followed everyone in NeoGenesis and he knew it all--and eat his lunch in peace, had it not been for the brunette that sat at his table without a word. he raised an eyebrow at her, expression questioning, but she didn't seem to notice and just hid her face in her arms.
...he might've said something and stopped his own music if he thought she'd hear him, but he noticed her own headphones--almost just like his own--and thought better of it.
so instead he balled up the paper that had covered his straw and chucked it at her head. ...which, you know, might not work anyway, but if it didn't then no skin off his back, really.]
[Even on top of it all, Hamuko still had no idea what had happened to Yosuke when he disappeared. The one person he talked to a lot hadn't been in school over the last few days either. She wasn't sure how to get a hold of them, short of asking over the network... which was a risk she didn't really want to take.
Her eyes opened as the ball of paper bounced off her head. She raised her eyes slightly to look at it, then at the direction it came from. There were a few blinks to move the tears away. Breaking down at school wasn't going to help at all.]
[once the girl looked up, Minato's brow furrowed slightly, pulling down in something close to a frown for a second or so before it faded. she looked... familiar. very familiar.
he didn't dwell on it though and instead raised a hand to move one of his earphones from his ear. the tears she had successfully blinked into submission didn't go unnoticed.]
[it felt like something he'd done before, somehow; with other people he sort of knew when they weren't okay, but it typically took longer, more than a few seconds of observation. weird. maybe she was just easy to read.]
[he knows that game and he can play it too, man. though he reaches for the mp3 player around his neck and turns down the volume a bit, because it was still a bit loud.]
[...haah, well. he knows that feeling well enough, and in those situations there's not much to really do about them-- even if he doesn't entirely want to leave it at that.]
[She nuzzled her face back into her arms and closed her eyes. She wanted to ask if he was the boy in the accidental post, but, she never gets into other people's business.]
[he frowns a little bit at the reply, just a slight wrinkling of the skin on his forehead, but the expression was gone after a few seconds. it probably shouldn't have been all that surprising if he reminded the girl of someone that was dead, but... he couldn't remember ever having "dreamed" of her before.]
...who?
[he leans forward slightly then, crosses his arms over each other on the tabletop before resting his chin on them, peering at her.]

[oh. that was right. he hadn't thought about his family in so many years that he'd...
it wasn't that he'd forgotten. he just hadn't thought about them.]
