[She stood in front of both her mother and her father's stones, holding flowers as she gently placed them on their graves. Although she was at a graveyard and it always gave her a sad feeling to visit her parent's graves, she did not cry or frown. She adjusted the flowers for a bit until her attention was caught by the voice, turning to face Nataku. ]

I don't believe we met before, my name is Uni.

[His head gave a slight tilt, uncertain how to accept that response.]

No. We have met one another. You are a friend of Verde's and Fon's. The latter is forgiven.

I'm afraid you have me mistaken for someone else, I don't know anyone named Verde or Fon.

[She gives him a sincere smile, but at the same time very curious.]

[He took a step closer to her -- the smile seemed real but what she was saying did not make sense when he compared it to his memories.]

Did they betray you? Is that why you are no longer associating with either of them?

Betray me? [She doesn't step back as he steps closer towards her, staying where she is to look up at him.]

[He corrected her, and it seemed he would have to continue to correct her on her behavior. It was fine to forget about Fon, but Verde was somewhat troubling. The child still considered him something of his friend, even though he occasionally tried to bring agony to the scientist's person.]

Yes. Betrayed you. It is not an uncommon action upon another. Actually, it seems to be the norm.

Nataku-san, I apologize but I don't know either Verde nor Fon that you are speaking of. [Now she stepped close towards him and stared up at him, keeping a serious expression but still very sincere.]

I'm not lying to you, Nataku-san. I would not lie about not knowing you, because you have not betrayed me.

[That had not been the response that he was expecting -- he thought that she might recant what she had just said and asked him to forgive him for denouncing both men. His head tilted slightly as it had before when she first denied knowing what he was talking about, looking just a little lost. The statement that he had not betrayed her resonated enough to allow him to humor the idea that she might not be lying.]

Why do you not know them?

[She paused, staring up at him and tried to think of the right answer to give him. It had seemed to pained him that she didn't know either Fon or Verde and she began to feel bad.]

... I don't understand why I don't know them.

Perhaps, you were not as close as I thought that you were...

[Merely an acquaintance, then? Someone that was visiting. His head gave a slight shake. Verde was not the kind of person that would allow someone to visit. That was just not the ... impression that he had left on Nataku. Someone who wished to be alone, but suddenly had so many people around him -- why? Had he changed so much? His head gave a slight shake; no, that also seemed incorrect. What was the correct image in his head of all three?]

No. You do know Verde at least. Fon tends to like everyone. Except me. But I understand the reasons why he does not like me.

This city is very strange. The people in it act strangely as well. It may be the atmosphere, but a city is what it is because of who is it in it, correct? You should not blame an inanimate creature for the faults of many.
