[Deidara perched himself on the nearest surface to listen to Shikamaru's explanation, his bag of clay at his side, explosives liberated from a stash on the way in the outer pocket. He lifted a handful of the small ones and held it out for Shikamaru.]

Sounds like fun. Can't believe... [He'd missed so much. He was still freaked out about that, not really able to believe he'd stepped out and spaced out on six months and doppelgangers and who the hell knew what else.] Take these, hm? And pass a light.

[He held out his other hand, beckoning for a cigarette for himself. He only had a bit of his self-mixed chemicals on him, and if there was going to be a fight he didn't want to be high.]

Not fun if you ask me, but I guess it's your kind of thing.

[He lights a cigarette for Deidara and passes it along before taking that small offering with a grateful nod.]

Try not to get blown up when Hidan sees you. I tried to tell him you weren't the kind of guy who'd just ditch us, but you know him.

It is. But with all of us and your double here, this should be like shooting fish in a barrel, hm. Relax a bit.

[Deidara takes the cigarette and props it between his lipsgiving Shikamaru a thoughtful look.]

Hey. I can handle Hidan, yeah. I know how to duck. How about you? Just because it wasn't planned don't mean I haven't been gone. You been all right? [He's sincere, though his tone of voice is sort of careful. Stuck been feeling like it's just the other day that he saw Shika and things should be fine, and the knowledge that it's been half a year.]

[Shika looks doubtful about that but he'll let the skepticism remain silent. He only starts to look uncomfortable at that question about himself.]

I haven't freaked out or anything, if that's what you're asking.

[No vengeful murder this time. Scout's honor.]

People disappear. Your body never showed up anywhere so I figured it was like what happened with my dad. And thinking of it like that... I just kind of hoped you'd wander back sometime, safe and sound. And it looks like you did.

[Deidara is arrogant, has always been arrogant, probably will always be arrogant and self-assured. He's positive they'll be fine, it's obvious in the way he starts to relax and lean back with the cigarette, one eye on the door in case Hidan finds them and he needs to, well, duck.]

Mm. You're pretty calm. I guess it has been a while.

[He takes a drag of the cigarette and looks at Shikamaru sidelong. There's a small hesitation before the next words--they aren't really macho and they aren't really manly, but Shika's practically his little brother.]

[Shika looks at Deidara too. It isn't like him to get really sentimental but when it comes to Dei... they've been through a lot. And he can't help but remember the day he found his friend's body up on an antenna.

It hurt, losing Dei not once but twice. His eyes start to mist up and he quickly wipes at them with the back of his hand.]

[After their last visitor, Temari has been avoiding windows as well. Unfortunately, that puts her in the realm of their corner while she's looking for some of her companions. She pokes her head in, then blinks at Deidara. Her jaw goes tight, but she's not going to say anything. No one has even heard of her brother here.]

Sorry, guys. I was just looking for Kite, he's floated off again.

[Deidara is about to respond to Shikamaru, when the girl peeks in. He tilts his head, giving the woman a once over and lets out a low, approving whistle.]

Who's this Shika, your girlfriend? She's cute. [He grins amiably at the blond woman, leaning back on the surface he's perched on.]

[And that earns Deidara the coldest glare. He doesn't miss you anymore, asshole.]

This is Temari. She's from Shikamaru's world.

[As if on cue, Shikamaru pokes his head in right after Temari. They'd remained close by to each other as they searched around for Kite, even less keen on separating than they had been before. Not after that attack.

He lingers in the doorway, raising an eyebrow in Deidara's direction and casting a careful glance in Temari's direction, but remaining silent as well.]

[She's being good, lazy ass. She's just . . . ignoring the blonde. Completely. Her focus is already back on finding Kite. Damn AI and his complete lack of chakra for her to track.]

I know he wouldn't leave the building, he has to be here somewhere.

[Deidara just smirks at the glare. See, aren't you glad he's back? Just like old times. Though the response from the girl, Temari, and--Wow that's distracting.]

[Deidara gets another odd look, something like a "duh" actually.]

[Because he totally doesn't think Temari is his type. So when his double appears, he gives the other a funny, questioning look.

That doesn't last long. Deidara distracts him. With stupid. It inspires a facepalm.]

[Cue one smack to the back of the genuis's head without even bothering to look over at him. Unbelievably hard to train him, honestly. Deidara's comment gets him a dry stare before she glances at her Shikamaru.]

He's not the sharpest kunai in the set, is he?

[ Kite's going to make it easier for them. He appears right beside his fellow Facility residents in his usual puff of blue flame and static, rubbing at a big sleepy eye. His hair is just a little messier that usual at the moment; bedhead. ]
