It was a strange feeling, this -- somewhere between entering new territory, and an odd sense of deja vu. Because the streets of Abyss weren't -- and probably never would be -- a place that he enjoyed frequenting. The constantly lingering scent of blood, the faint ugly noises that hung heavy in the air, and the constant knowledge that this place had the tendency to swallow people whole. Nagi couldn't help but feel tense, as he made his way down a comparatively empty street, weaving down alleyways in search of a destination that he both anticipated and dreaded.
(What was left of the 'Scar Chain's' headquarters. A place where, perhaps, he would be able to find some clue as to what lead to his death, what had happened during those months and months that he no longer remembered. And there was a certain sense of dread, as he drew nearer, turning down a dimly lit street and counting blocks to make sure he wasn't going too far. The constant feeling that this was wrong, and that perhaps he should head back, because continuing this search for what he had lost would only lead to a devastating fall. Territory perhaps best left untread.
But still, but still.) Ignoring the sounds of movement from the next alley over, Nagi walked at a controlled pace -- knowing that showing fear would only attract more unwanted attention -- looking only ahead. It would probably be best if he searched for clues as best as he could, then got out of here. (If the need arose, of course, he had no qualms about fighting, but that was never a pleasant way to spend an afternoon, was it?)
