His specimens were becoming so meddlesome.

Even Flemming was wearing his nerves thin - not that Mayuri had ever been the patient, understanding type. Was it really too much to expect some level of emotional detachment and professionalism from his colleague? Was it too much to expect his specimens to obey him unquestioningly when he gave them orders? He was supplying both of them so to speak - Flemming with an endless supply of children to dote over like the demented parental figure he was, and his own subjects with life they would otherwise be denied in his absence. The Alpha and Omega weren't keen on keeping around useless bags of flesh without purpose - especially ones that tended to cause trouble.

Mayuri was beginning to share their sentiments.

But he couldn't rid himself of them - not yet. They were still useful, still interesting... and until he had studied every last part of them and unraveled the mysteries their bodies supplied, they would continue to exist for his amusement - but no longer. When they'd outlived his curiosity...

Then they, too, would join the bodies dissected and labeled in the multitude of jars scattered about his laboratories.

Now, however, things were peaceful. He had decided to take the opportunity of silence to partake in a task he had intended on seeing through earlier in the week, but had to postpone due to the unruly behavior of his live-in subjects. Extracting an eye from the head that housed it was a delicate task, but one Mayuri was accustomed to, particularly with the nature of the Uchiha clan and their power focused in that region. In order to expose the tarsal plate, he made a vertical incision in the superior lid, scalpel cutting a thin, fine line at his command. Perhaps today's work would bear fruit at last. He was immensely curious about the Uchiha clan's unusual abilities. These clone eyes, created to mimic Sasuke's, were quite interesting. A shame they could only be grown in a living human host. It was tiresome, having to implant and remove them over and over again.
