There was an odd mixture -- always a mixture lately -- of being happy and angry at the same time. He was happy that he would be able to have some friends over. There were people that he wanted Kiku to meet if he could. He wanted to make up for his behavior in the hospital, he wanted to make sure that people still liked him, he wanted to just feel safe. Yosuke didn't want to be alone. It was such a self-centered thought, but it was one that kept being repeated to him. As much as he was denying it, he couldn't stop himself from wanting this party. Something loud to get rid of the negative feelings that he had been drowning in lately.
Not really the best situation to be in for a party, now was it? He rubbed the back of his neck in an awkward sort of way as he continued to mess around with the treats and whatnot that he had bought at Junes. Yosuke had been afraid to go to that store -- not so much as he had to walk past the park where he was attacked, but that had been part of it. He remembered his breathing increasing and he felt like he was having a panic attack, but there were more military people -- more people nearby to make sure that he wasn't alone, wasn't going to be hurt.
No, it dealt more with the fact that whenever he saw the store or heard one of the commercials; he started seething with complete hatred for it. Enough that he felt that he was going to hurt someone if he did not change the channel or otherwise block it out. Didn't want to hurt Kiku, didn't want to do anything like that. His hand had come up to push his bangs out of his face only to have them return a few seconds later. No regrets about inviting people -- it was better than having Kiku be forced to sit around and listen to him be happy. Happy just for his own sake so that he wouldn't think of the other emotions. Had to be difficult. Still, with a lot of people, it would be better for everyone.
Right?
"Ah, I wonder when everyone's gonna get here." Yosuke finally started talking aloud instead of constantly bottling these things inside. Of course, it was more a verbal repression now -- his tone light and joyful at the thought of those coming to stay the night. "Hm, wonder if I should take out one of my kung-fu movies first."
