Well, as I prepare for yet ANOTHER hurricane in 3 weeks, I can't help but realize that THE DAMNED STORM HITS ON MY 20th BIRTHDAY!!! Argh, this is gonna suck so much. Considering that the worst case scenario right now puts the center of the storm about 20 miles away from my house at 12pm on the 5th, I'm pretty damn worried. It's forecasted to loose some strength by that time, and hopefully the worst winds we get are category 2 winds... If luck is on our side, then we might be spared from hurricane force winds entirely -- it's just too early to tell right now. In any case, I am pretty much anticipating being without power AGAIN for about 3 days, possibly 5 or more if the shit really hits the fan, so my next entry should be after the storm has passed and power is restored... I hope....
EDIT: Forgot to mention this link:
http://www.hurricanealley.net/Storms/06L.html they've got some good data there for your perusal, so long as they don't block it out to free users. >_< Of particular interest is the image on the page I linked to (the worst case scenario that I described), the "All Models Spaghetti Run" is a group of all computer models; the more closely grouped the lines are, the greater possibility that the storm will pass through that area, and the Forecast Wind Swath which displays what winds could be expected. Anyway, wish me the best!
