Nothing, I just... um...?

You think it's weird.

No, I just- I'd rather you not look quite like that...

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Beethoven.

I never said there was, I just...

I like you the way you are, Schro.

Oh.

You do realize that I don't really look like that, yes? This exercise is about who we are or have the potential to be in a broad, vague sense.

Well, I realize that, yeah. I've seen you before.

Do you want to be a classical pianist then?

While that would be lovely, that's not what I meant either. I want to compose and be in the midst of an orchestra playing my symphonies, conducting them as music composed by my own hand fills the hall.

It's stupid, wishful thinking, but I know I have the capacity for it.

Why is that stupid? If that's what you want to do, then go for it. I definitely think that you can do it.

Nobody cares for that kind of music anymore unless you compose film scores. I work at a gas station.

Since when have you cared about what other people think or care about? Make them care.

It's not about what someone thinks of me. I'm being realistic. It is a small job market to begin with that only a tiny margin of people manage to thrive in. And with the economy being what it is, people aren't likely to spend money on the arts. I can't change the nature of employment.

That shouldn't stop you from at least trying. I mean, maybe you could get your foot in the door with your band, and then just... merge into composing.

People actually spend more money on interests and entertainment when the economy is poor, so you do stand a chance.

If, and it's a big if, I got in the door with my band, I would probably stay with the band. You have more artistic license when people like what you're doing.

That's true. I just don't want to have my head in the clouds.
