Yomi had always been a somewhat eccentric lover. There was no question about that in Hitsugi’s mind. It wasn’t like he complained; quite on the contrary actually, he really loved Yomi’s strange, but cute, acts and gifts of love. Hitsugi loved to show his devotion to his lover with little gifts, but Yomi surpassed him when it came to creativity.
Like the time Yomi had mailed him 14 envelopes, where 13 was filled with love notes and one with heart confetti, when they had been together for two weeks. Hitsugi had littered his entire kitchen when he opened the last one, and he was still finding stray confetti hearts around his apartment. He didn’t mind, he liked being reminded of how much effort Yomi put into letting him know he cared.
And then there was the time when Yomi had asked Hitsugi to pick a number between 1 and 100, and Hitsugi had confusedly replied 87. Yomi had just smiled slyly and said that they’d be busy for a while and then started to kiss his younger lover, over and over. Hitsugi hadn’t kept count, but he was guessing it was about 87 kisses, more or less.
Or the time when Hitsugi had had dinner with Yomi at the singer’s apartment and had been presented with a hand scribbled bill saying:
Drink - One Kiss
Dinner - Two Kisses
Dessert- Three Kisses
(Tipping is greatly appreciated)
Yomi had then demanded Hitsugi to pay up, while carrying his characteristically silly grin and the guitarist had done so gladly. There really was something utterly loveable about how Yomi could make up the cutest excuses to get a kiss from his lover, despite knowing he could get them without asking. Hitsugi thought it was half the charm of the games, and that’s what made his relationship with Yomi so fun and happy.
But Hitsugi had to give it to him; Yomi had really surpassed himself with his newest romantic idea.
When Hitsugi came home to his apartment that day he had been met with a strange little paper bag which sat on the doorstep to his front door. He tilted his head curiously at the bag, because it was slightly damp near the bottom and a gift tag with his name on it was dangling from the top. The top was closed with a red ribbon with black kitty-print on it.
Hitsugi crouched and picked the tag lose and studied the front of it, his name was neatly written with golden ink. He smiled as he remembered Yomi’s newfound love for the art of calligraphy and turned the card and read it aloud to himself.
Out of all the fish in the sea, you’re the only one for me.
I love you ♥
-Yomi
Smiling and feeling his heart bump a little harder, Hitsugi unfastened the ribbon and peered into the bag, finding to his utmost surprise a plastic bag filled with water - and at least 150 brightly colored fishes swimming around. Hitsugi couldn’t help but laugh and let his smile grow ever wider; his stomach tingled with affection and adoration for his unconventional lover.
But then a vital question struck him;
What did he do with 150 little tropical fishes with no food to give or fish tank to put them in?
Hitsugi looked at the kitty-printed ribbon and dreaded the answer.
