Previous Updates Previously on the Prettyface Prettacy: Percy married Marquise, who had to put on a llama costume and leave for work in the middle of the wedding party. Oh yes, and the first Gen 2 baby is on its way!
Before anything, here's the loading screen with the happy newlyweds.
And here are Marquise's needs, decreasing at an alarming rate while she was sleeping. She's only been pregnant for a few hours, and it's already weighing her down.
In order to avoid the sort of disaster that usually befalls pregnant sims on ISBIs, I had to force her to wake up before she was fully rested in order to make sure all her other needs were satisfied before the carpool arrived.
And here's the happy couple, leaving together for their respective jobs.
She's pregnant and has better things to do than look for a needle in the haystack. Let the professionals do the work for her.
Damn. I usually don't worry too much when sims lose hobby enthusiasm with these chance cards, but I decided to enrich this hood by adding a related community lot to it every time a Prettyface maxes their OTH, so this is a step back in giving Pickford a pretty park. Ah well, Percy's OTH is Nature as well, so it's only a matter of seeing which one maxes it first.
Percy comes back with more evidence that he's made of win.
Marquise, on the other hand, comes back with morning sickness and several needs in either the yellow or the red. She had all the skills required for a promotion (making friends for this isn't required in my game, thanks to a mod), so I'm guessing that, in spite of my attempts, her general mood was too low for her to be considered for one.
Thankfully, a bubble bath is able to deal with both hygiene and comfort at the same time.
Percy joins her in the bathroom at some point, sending her some worried glances. I feel even more worried about him at this point, as the toilet is filthy.
He then decides to brush his teeth, possibly to keep on looking after Marquise. However, in his case it looks more like he's cleaning inside his nostrils.
As he now needs to gain logic points, I buy them a chess table. Percy immediately runs to play without being ordered to.
Poor Marquise looks so miserable here. I can't help but be amused at her choice of PJs, though, as she's never struck me as the sort to enjoy big old-fashioned nighties. That said, I feel it looks very cute on her.
Oh hi, Dora!
I have a soft spot for the Ottomi, so it's great to see one of them walk by.
Marquise wakes up, even though her energy bar is still in the red.
"I don't feel so good."
I'm not surprised, given that her first pop is so powerful it turned her blue nightie into purple PJs.
Damnit, Justice, stop calling at midnight!
This would be so cute if not for the fact they're both sleeping with their eyes open. Percy's eye problem must be contagious.
Marquise looks much happier when she finally wakes up, though it's mostly to do with the fact it's raining outside.
Since she needs to have a quiet pregnancy, I make her focus mostly on sitting comfortably and reading.
Percy wanted to gain creativity points, so I got him an easel. I hope this isn't his subtle way of telling me he'd like to have a telescope next.
He then leaves for work. I'm a bit apprehensive about his bosses (or would that be the driver?) making him ride in the back.
Another example of the awesomeness of my name mod.
Hi, Woody! How is everything in Widespot?
Second pop!
And I must say Marquise's dress looks very cute with a pregnancy bump.
Win!
The next morning, Marquise makes me go "aww" by dancing in her nightie for most of the morning. I had to make her stop after that third screenshot, though - as you might have guessed, the change in lighting signalled the beginning of winter, and I didn't want her to freeze.
I don't know who you are, buddy, but I hate you.
Percy and the evil warlock become best friends through telephone calls. I need to take advantage of this one of these days.
I find these two working on the kitchen together adorable.
Wait, I take it back.
Stop panicking and get out of there! You have an alarm, which means the firemen are coming, so you should stop endangering yourselves!
We interrupt this moment of panic to take a closer look at Percy's look of terror.
Thankfully the fireman is able to deal with the fire quickly, without the Prettyfaces being in the way as I feared would happen.
Percy is clearly more concerned in making his wife feel better (by thanking her for being hot) than in thanking the fireman properly for saving their lives.
His priorities are in the right place, I guess. She's feeling terrible.
Step two in making Marquise feel better consists on telling her a dirty joke.
I think it's a little too late to be thinking about adoption, dear.
Step three: autonomous tossing of football.
Since the baby is coming very soon, I decided it would be good for everybody if I used their recent earnings in building a nursery. In spite of them having plenty of room to expand, though, I found myself adding a second floor for it.
It's a bit bare right now, but they ran out of money before I could add some cute decorations to it. Ah well, it will do for the time being.
Step three.
Aaaand step four. From her expression, I daresay Marquise is feeling better already.
With all the excitement, the baby decided it was about time it should check out the outside world.
"Oh my. This is it, darling. The miracle of birth! Our special one! The..."
"Shut uuuuup!" *smashes wall with her head*
Only one for now, thank goodness.
And it's a girl! World, meet Polly Prettyface. She's got Marquise's golden yes, and Percy's red hair and pale skin.
Yes, dear, you've got enough reason to look pleased with yourself.
Percy is pleased too. So much so, in fact, that his fingers seem to have melded together.
Everybody is exhausted, so they go to bed - but not before Polly is thankfully put in her crib rather than the floor.
Percy and Marquise have to leave for work at the same time the following morning, so I have them hire a nanny.
With this settled, Marquise rushes to the car as soon as it arrives.
Percy, on the other hand, drops the book he was reading and changes into his uniform, but eventually decides not to go because the nanny is late and he can't leave Polly alone.
Eventually, though, she finally makes an appearance.
Everybody, meet Alumina Cistern, the nanny. I've the feeling she'll be making more appearances in the near future.
With Alumina here, Percy can finally go to work. On foot. In thick snow. Thanks a lot, lady.
She spends most of her time at the Prettyface lot playing chess (and failing to freeze, for some reason), and never once going upstairs to check on her charge. It's a good thing Polly had been cleaned and fed before her arrival, then.
The proud parents arrive together, with good news all around.
Percy also brings home with him a new friend, Undine Favor - who is yet another one to be added to the list of potential future spouses.
We have a problem, though. In spite of both Percy and Marquise returning with promotions and bonuses, Alumina had no idea of it when she started looking for her wages and decided to steal something of theirs to make up for it.
It's all right, she's only taken a dining chair they can easily replace, but still. She didn't do anything besides play chess and read the newspaper.
True, Polly doesn't look like she suffered from her neglect, but the chair is still a bit too much.
Oh look, Undine is a high-fiver!
Marquise needs to earn a body skill point, but any attempt to work out using the stereo drops off her queue, and any order to make her skip rope outside has her complain about the flat and spacious terrain.
She's got no problem doing it in the kitchen, though.
In the meantime, Percy kills two birds with one stone by gaining some logic points while befriending Undine.
Marquise checks up on Polly, and changes her diaper before she starts crying.
After the baby is fed, burped (well, cuddled) and put back into her crib, Marquise and Percy decide to try for a new one.
Once again, they are successful.
I finally manage to see Marquise's outerwear. It's... okay, I guess. I think those are the exact trousers from her gym outfit.
Next day. Both Percy and Marquise have a day off, so I let them skill while keeping a watch on Polly. They're both much more reliable than Alumina, thankfully, which is not hard.
Marquise is having a rough pregnancy again, but in a different way. her motives are decaying in a less dramatic way, but she's throwing up more than I've ever seen another pregnant sim do. She rolled a want to study parenting, but until she succeeded I saw her drop the book and rush to the bathroom five times. I also made her clean up the toilet every time, which was greeted with a lot of whining and complaining every single time.
Percy is one step closer to earning us that park.
I HATE YOU.
Finally!
Yes, Marquise, your husband is adorable. Let's focus on what your daughter looks like, though.
Oh wow. She's PERFECT!
Here's a side-by-side comparison between father and daughter. The nose and mouth are Marquise's, but everything else seems to be Percy's.
And we end this update with Polly's stats. I'm curious to see how those features will develop as she grows older.
Until next time, and thanks for reading!
