Jul 19, 2011 22:33

How my earlier list now stands:
Finish my two essays  Write Salamander Essay
See John as much as possible  Plans Made (and mostly already carried out)
Study for and pass the written permit exam  Got a 100%
Practice for and pass the driving exam and get my license Done!!!
Choreograph about 30 minutes of music for my independent study (Untouched)
See Hannah, Mo, and Britney (Plans made - as well as for much of HTP and Robbie, too)
Read Dune and Abhorsen Trilogy (I'm about halfway through Abhorsen! Almost done.)
Write for Nennivia (Alas... It feels like years since I've touched this. Poor Mo.)
Finish Steph's gift that I started last summer (Untouched)
Lose 10 pounds and/or weigh 140lbs by the end of the summer (May not make this one, but I'm OK with that.)
Get regular exercise (I went jogging about once, and walked or rode to work and back every day before I got my license.)
Learn/Practice Cooking (Total fail so far. I've just made more quiches.)
Find/Apply to fall internships (In the process of applying with the help of Prof. Goldin, who is actually being really helpful this time.)
Make plans for how I'm going to spend my spring 2012 (I've signed up for GreenVolunteers and have started narrowing down my options.)

I'm feeling much more able and willing to utilize my time now, so I'm hopeful that I can manage everything from here on out, even though I spent the first half of the summer shirking my scholastic duties. Perhaps it is, in fact, because of my generally relaxed approach to the first part of the summer that I'm now re-energized enough to be Doing Things. I've had a week or two of constant activity and it seems to have jump-started me back into gear. I don't like sitting around when I could be crossing things off of my list now. This is a very welcome chance of mental attitude, and I hope it will prove resilient.

Here is an updated, cleaned up list of what I will be spending my time on for the rest of the summer:
Essay
Choreography
Fall Internship
Figure out how/if I can have a car this fall
Prep work for being a TA for Ecology
Costa Rica: research options, select best, and apply
Work
Socialize

And, oh yes, I was asked to be an official TA for Ecology. I'm super pleased. :-D
My list of fall commitments now includes the following items:

~ Academic ~
Evolution (normal student)
Ecology (TA for credit)
Environmental Internship (Intern work plus an evening lecture class once a week and final paper & presentation)
Directing my Dance Independent Study

~ Extra-Curricular ~
Ecology Club
Margaret: A Tiger's Heart
Merely Players (Maybe)
Ballroom Lessons (Maybe)

This is looking a whole lot more manageable and appealing now than it did when I first tried to figure out what my fall would look like. It's changed a lot, and all for the better, if you ask me.

In short, things are generally looking up, even if I am behind and need to put in a lot of work in the coming months.

work, progress, summer, essay, friends, self-confidence
