Sister time

Yesterday, there was much snow. My sisters and I and our German exchange student Miriam found ourselves at home with a whole day ahead of us and no plans. We had been meaning to watch Harold and Maude, so we did. I had seen it four years ago but wasn't really able to appreciate it. I understood it all a lot better the second time around and would highly recommend it to those who have never seen it. It's odd, be warned. A bit messed up. But something of a classic, if you ask me. Anyway, it put us all in a very impulsive, chill mood, which lasted for most of the day. Anna built a great fort and filled it with pillows, Zoe baked delicious sandwich cookies, and I put on a very impractical dress and played the grand piano. We listened to the Bowerbirds and Beirut all day. It was really lovely. The snow falling outside was beautiful and made the sunlight light very soft and cheery. I think it is all best captured in pictures. Said pictures are on facebook, however.

I costumed for Intercon today when I got to Elsinore, not being in the mood for real work. I was able to find a suitable get-up for all 4 characters, assuming that the skirt Zanna offered fits me well enough. I may want to look into some more professional heels at the thrift store, if such shoes can be found there. I didn't take pictures of the gold digger costume and I don't have all the pieces for the suit, but here are a couple of fun pictures from today.

The hat and sword are just for fun. They aren't actually going to be part of the costume. The face paint was an attempt at looking like an ugly creature thing. I'm not sure how well it worked. Jared thought I looked cute. 'Cute' was not the goal. I guess I'll try harder to make it uglier next time. In any case, the others in Elsinore voted that I should wear it all day, so I did. Though, I interpreted "all day" as "until sunset".
