Lunch time...

And I need to speed read through the rest of the book I need to have read for class tonight, 'The Boy and The Dog are Sleeping' by Nasdijj. Beautifully written book. Unfortunately Nasdijj is a fraud and that colors every word I read. It's supposed to be a memoir of a father's love for his adopted HIV+ son...actually Awee has full blown AIDS. And the love Nasdijj writes about is immediate and fierce, the writing is so lyrical and yet profane. Why did he try to pass this off as non-fiction when it was all a product of his imagination. No matter how it's marketed, it's a beautiful piece of writing. Taking on the persona of the marginalized and disenfranchised to promote their cause? If that's the reason, there is some nobility in it. But why accept awards meant for them? It's sad. And I cannot begin to fathom what goes on in Timothy Barrus' mind...and I don't want to. I'd probably end up with nightmares.
