We Now Return You To Your Regularly Scheduled Luggage
So yeah, I was sitting here thinking to myself "wow, there are a lot of things that I'd like to write about. I seem to be ranting on forums a lot lately, and that is fun and all, but I wonder if there is a place I could do it on a more regular basis. Perhaps I'll start a blog or something....hold the phone.... well fuck I'm an idiot >_<"
So here I am again. I gave the old girl a face lift with the help of the background contest that apparently happened on LJ (loves me the squids). First I'll give a brief update on stuff so far. Jeremy is now working for a telephone company in town here. He likes it for the most part. It was less pay, but more sanity. Also on a plus side, they offer a sheeite load of perks including a 4K 'loan' that you pay back $20 at a time off your pay cheques to be used for gadgets. Jeremy is planning to get a new pc with 2K, and he is going to give me a grand to get a camera and the other thousand is undecided. Whether this will be a video camera or another camera is another story.
Which brings me to the next update. TheKid and I have been making videos. We shoot on Sundays and I get them all edited and stuff whenever I can. This is, of course pending her homework being done :P. So far we only have one up, but there are a lot of ideas rolling around. We have been shooting in my office basement, which has worked out well enough. There is a permanent link on the side now. The videos are all up on YouTube.
Speaking of YouTube, there is another link there called boh3m3.net. For those of you that do not know boh3m3, he is something of a YouTube celebrity. He has a loyal following of both fans and haters alike. I am personally in the former category, and the link provided is to his new forum site. He has stated that this is not to be a place where we can go touch him and ooo and aaa at all his crap. It is meant to be a place to go and hang out and communicate with the other fans and to contribute something of substance to the community. I would have to say that it has accomplished that with minimal ads added to the site to keep it going. There is even a chat room going now (at my insistence :P) where we can all get together (either in our own IRC clients or off the java client hosted on the site) and shoot the shit. Now, these forums were made by the person who designed the NASA forums, I shit you not. Dan is Teh Man. This thing is sweet as cherry pie. There was only one that I saw that was bigger and better, but it only lasted a grand total of say... 1 week before the owner got bored/frustrated and ended it all. If you do go to check out the site, you don't have to know a thing about YouTube to get it all. You can join and not know who the bloody-fuck boh3m3 is, and still be able to participate in most threads.
CHRISTMAS.. AAAAAAHHHH MOTHERLAN!! It's close now isn't it. And what is even close is my departure date. That's right, I said it. I'm getting the FUCK out of Yellowknife for a while over the Christmas holidays and going to see my Grandma and other family members. It should be fun. I plan on drinking most of my relatives under the table :D. That is after TheKid goes to sleep, as she will be joining me on this magical journey. Oh, and did I mention, we are getting there by bus.... in winter...yay! Now, most of you who know Yellowknife know that the road in and out of our loverly little (ice)berg is one that you take a little as possible in winter. Partially due to the treacherous nature of the roads at this time, but also because of the fact that you may get about a days drive out and arrive at a huge mother-flubbing river (longer than the Mississippi and almost as wide) called the Mackenzie river, and the fairy/ice road that crosses this beast of a water way may or may not be in action. So you are stuck on one side in a bus or car or if you are really brave on a bike with no way to get across (unless you have a Bond car thing going for you) with several dozen other frustrated and now panicked travelers all thinking the same thing..."I wonder if that hotel we saw in the no horse town a ways back has any free rooms." Now, if this were to happen on my trip, I'd say fuck it and sleep on the buss another night till it was up. You leave YK at midnight, and arrive in Red Deer over 24 hours later at 3am. I have a hotel booked (thanks Mom for catching the bill on that one) and will be spending what little night we have left there until we are awakened for complimentary breakfast and then picked up by my parents and dropped off at some random mall to shop the day away. I may have to take a nap in the food court. TheKid and I have traveled down south by bus before, and she does really well on these trips, but she is going to be one tired kiddie by the end of it. I'm so glad she is so good natured. There will be many photos taken along the way and hopefully a few videos also. Speaking of, I have to get more memory cards...*makes note on hand*.
So I have installed my first hard drive, all on my own and with no back seat coaching from TheHubby. I went on vague instructions from the office techy and a basic knowledge of how things worked and should fit together. I got in there and nothing was really how I was led to believe they would. I got right in there though, and started unscrewing things that I thought should be and did finally get the beast in there and working. Which means that I now have the ability to have more than one program running at once :P. All of my photos and music (over 22GB of music D:) and avatars and crap are on that drive and all the programs are on the normal drive. I was so proud, and yus I know that most of you uber nerds out there will thing "woopdee fucking do... you preformed a basic task that any tester-monkey could do", but I was still happy with myself that I didn't have to go running to anyone for instructions.
I've been trying to go to Poker nights on a regular basis (every 2nd week) but it has not been easy to do. I have made it three times so far, but each time I got better at it. Other nights I've either cancelled as TheHubby wanted to go to a movie, or I was too ill, or this last attempt, I did make it there, but it was cancelled as there was a tournament. I felt like an ass showing up to the place and only the lady of the house being home >_<. Oh well, they actually stopped by my work to apologise later on, which was nice, but really I was the one who felt sorry.
Speaking of, I'm going out to their house this Sunday for a cookie exchange. You bake 6 dozen cookies and bring them over, trade 5 of those dozen, eat 1 dozen there (das a lotta damn cookies) and then you get 5 dozen different kinds of cookies to take home with you. Baking is one of the only girly things I do, and I enjoy it a lot, but as my kitchen is 'broken' we'll call it, I have not had the chance to do a lot of it and try to avoid it as much as possible. So instead I have bribed (with cookies of course) the Littledykelette into letting me use her unused kitchen to bake them all. She has agreed provided she gets a batch to herself. It should be a fun time had by all.
Ok, I just took a look at how fucking long this post is, and have decided for my own sake to shut the fuck up now :). I'll write something more interesting later on and will add some photos to my other site nowish with a link on the side with the rest of them. deadnick is the name of it, feel free to take a look see and tell me what you think of my other favourite past time.
