A chap being held in Guantanamo Bay has allegedly confessed to being the biggest baddy in the world and being behind the attacks on America and many more, coming soon to a paranoiafest near you! Personally I felt the exact same thing when I heard about the confession (especially including the 'A to Z' comment. Alphebet aside, that is a very American colloquialism, not to mention an out of date one that more modern English speakers use less and less).

Do I believe he committed every crime he confessed to? No, I don't. Do I believe that he was responsible for a great many bad things? I will believe that. There are better patsies to use then a completely innocent man, one with at least SOME modicom of crime is someone worth using.

And like you, I also find it very convient that his confession occurred when American's where feeling down about the whole thing, and really having captured the 'mastermind' of everything evil would be a great boon to our war effort (as in 'See, we're making REAL progress after all).

What got me the most, though, was the fact that his supposed written confession was censored! I mean, come on! The man can't have reporters, but then his own words (suposedely) are being censored? That seems a little odd.

I know too many government workers to really believe that full consipircies can work. In other words, I don't think they're going to paste everything on a compltely innocent man. On the other hand, I think it's just as bad for us to fabricate one crime as it is twenty crimes, just to make sure that everyone thinks we're great and since we catch can't Osama, we have someone better

I'm sure you're right. He's clearly something in Al Qaeda. I'm not as troubled by his plight as by the many innocent people still held there.
