It just keeps growing!
I never before understood how people could say "This was supposed to be a one shot" before. Now I do. The short story that was supposed to end right now, is demanding more. I feel kinda bad that I haven't been able to make good on my promise for the rest of my stories, but I'm just writer blocked. And by that I mean my characters have blocked me out of their heads. They don't want to talk to me for the moment. But Mark and Monica do, so they get first dibs.
But even then my rewrite isn't going very vigorously. I just like most of the beginning, but I get the feeling it doesn't draw the reader in enough.
Ugg.
I also went shopping for a beta reader. Right when I had chosen one, I wrote out a scene from the story when was supposed to be nearly finished and now I have to add to it. I simply can't write short stories. It's beyond me. I can't write long ones either it seems.
But hey. I'm still learning, right? I can afford to write mediocre stuff until I get the hang of it.
