CB VIII - Varia Division
This division saw the end of the last perfect-scoring bracket and the father-and-son combo from Final Fantasy X appearing back-to-back in two debatable matches.
I went with Sub-Zero over Tidus because past statistics showed Sub-Zero to be marginally stronger. Even though Mortal Kombat gets no respect now Subby has managed to impress in past contests so I was moderately confident about him advancing over Tidus and that paid off. But after that Jecht managed to rob me of a point by advancing and will cost me two more points next round. He was an unknown factor so I didn't have confidence in backing him against GameFAQs pet favourite Phoenix Wright. Jecht's victory is probably the best evidence yet for Dissidia Boost but it seems to be affecting some characters more than others.
Jill Valentine's 70% win over Niko Bellic is a pretty extreme change for a character with a history of close wins and losses. It's probably a combination of Resident Evil being pretty good this year and the subtle backlash against Grand Theft Auto that's been going on for over a year now. The years of hype and overexposure seem to have taken their toll even on the gamers who supported it in the beginning.
