Tangerines and Trampolines

Following on from the last post: it turns out this isn't the first time people have tried to bring back A Boy and His Blob.  There was another game in development years ago that was shut down, which I think was a very good thing because they couldn't have made it look worse if they tried.

I watched Escape from L.A. a few days ago.  I'd estimate it and Escape from New York make up about 50% of the content of Metal Gear Solid between them.  It's not quite the cut-and-paste transition from Blade Runner and Snatcher but it's only a step down from that.  I also wondered if Escape from L.A. didn't 'inspire' MGS in an even more literal sense since it came out in 1996 and if we assume Hideo Kojima started work on MGS after seeing it that lines up pretty well with the game being finished in 1998.  I'm also surprised how I don't dislike the REAL Snake like I do his more famous ripoff.  Just admitting a character is a sociopath instead of trying to convince me how he's really a noble and admirable person deep down (when even the character himself denies it) makes it easier to swallow.

In other film news I want to see the Dragonball movie.  I know it will probably be bad but I want a basic working knowledge of the series and this film seems to be the quickest way to get it.  Right now my only knowledge of Dragonball comes from second-hand accounts and memes.  I think I may have watched episodes here and there but the show was impenetrable to me because of how drawn out it was.

I also tried playing an emulated game for the first time this week.  I ended up getting frustrated and quitting after failing simple jumps for ten minutes because I couldn't remember from one second to the next if jump was under my index or middle finger.  I'm not going to bother with this again until I get a pad.  This is exactly what I expected would happen.
