But let's get the other things out of the way first.
Link/Zack/Mario/X was a pretty solid lock but the outcome was debatable. Speculation said Zack might pull an upset with the undivided Square vote, or even X might manage to edge Mario out. I never saw any suggestion that Mario could win a match he shared with Link but the post-match stats had a high number of brackets on him (40%) so it looks like many people lost this one by over-thinking it. That means today's poll is Link/Mario/Samus/Crono and it's going to be ugly. The Battle Royale '06 already showed us what happens when the three Nintendo headliners share a poll - Mario and Samus job horribly to Link and look pathetic. But I'd be a liar if I say this isn't one of the greatest match pics ever.
The next day Crono and Vincent had a rematch and Crono scrapes a win by less than a hundred votes. Not quite the margin that Vincent beat him by last year but it redeems him for the loss.
AND THEN KIRBY BEAT SONIC HA HA HA HA HA HA
A while ago I suggested that Sonic had lost so much of his own fans he was relying on the Smash vote to survive, hence why he was getting leeched so badly by Sandbag and where Kirby got the support to beat him yesterday. Appearing in Brawl seems to have become a huge liability for him. Meanwhile Kirby has just been fantastic this year. His power has varied erratically from contest to contest but if not for his last-minute intervention we'd be having an all-Noble Nine final.
So Kirby, what do you have to say about your success?

But Kirby's upset will probably be the last match of note in the contest. Barring a miracle, Link and Crono today, Cloud and Snake tomorrow, Link and Cloud in the finals. If there's no reason to write about the finals my last contest post will probably be a retrospective on this year's characters of note.
