New Dissidia trailer. It starts the same as the last one but don't let that trick you. I think this is all the 'regular' characters revealed now. I'm guessing Chaos and Cosmos will be playable too (Chaos as the final boss for the heroes and Cosmos for the villains).
I'm interested in Dissida because it's trying to bridge the gap in a series which has been sharply divided into 'old' and 'new' and trying to find a unified style for representing all the characters. Like how you have the older characters who are meticulously detailed attempts to recreate Yoshitaka Amano's art in 3D beads and all (except Terra/Tina who follows her grand tradition of looking nothing like her art) and then you have them flying around and shooting choreographed laserbeams at each other which is very much new-school Final Fantasy. I also like how they made the old characters distinctive from each other and the new ones - not just in how they look but in giving them different moves so they can be as unique as the new characters. Warrior of Light shoots swords of light, Onion Kid switches Jobs, Cecil can change between Dark Knight and Paladin (Dark Knight does more damage but drains his own health and Paladin can restore it? That's how I think it should work) and Bartz is some sort of sword master who can use the swords of other characters. Dual-wielding the Buster Sword and the Gunblade is a feat normally reserved for Mary Sue characters. I was worried design recycling might be an issue because so much of the Cosmos side boils down to "hero guys with swords".
Zidane has a surprisingly feminine voice. I guess it's to match Kuja's efemminate looks.
Kefka is basically The Joker now, but it feels right because I think that's how people always imagined him acting if he had more than his little sprite to emote with.
I don't know why they waited to reveal Cloud last. They showed Sephiroth way back in the first trailer so he was the game's worst-kept secret. I'm not expecting the dialogue between them to be anything more than Kingdom Hearts-style "you are my darkness/I am part of you" fluff. But I'm amused to see you can make Sephiroth can do his patented Aerith-killing dropping stab™ on people.
