Danger: wikis may be hazardous to your health

I'm a shameless little swot. In school I was more interested in making friends with the teachers than other students because of the things I could learn from them. I love learning for the sake of learning. That's why wikis are so dangerous to me. I just spent yesterday night and most of this morning and afternoon reading a stupidly comprehensive Chrono Trigger + Cross wiki. 8 or 9 hours at least. No, this is totally a respectable and intelligent thing to do when you have other responsibilities and you're going in for a new job tomorrow and aguyrbifndbkliyrugbdfhk

On the other hand I do feel satisfied from doing this. I was dismissive about Chrono Trigger DS before because I thought I knew the game inside out and couldn't be bothered doing it again but reading some of these articles brought back the old magic, especially when it came to little technical details that were new to me (Robo's spell list has three elemental attacks? HE'S EVEN MORE AWESOME NOW). I probably will get it now.

The other thing I came to appreciate is how good the world design of the Chrono games is. Most of Chrono Cross' insanely convoluted nonsense can be disregarded because it has no bearing on Trigger's story and/or was negated by the game's ending anyway. What you're left with (Trigger + best parts of Cross) forms a history and cosmology which is simple but appealing and iconic. Now I'm joining in everyone else's hope that Trigger DS will restart interest in Chrono Break or whatever a third game will be called, something that cleans up the hanging threads from the first two games. After reading everything on the wiki I came up with a scenario for Chrono Break and an expanded timeline that explains what happens between the Trigger eras. Squeenix should hire me.

shamelessly nerdy, chrono
