Weekend in Michigan ^_^
So I'm gonna ramble on a bit about the trip!
Things got started last Friday actually, had chromeydragon drive down to my apartment and spend the night. We spent the time playing monster hunter, myself on Monster Hunter Tri, herself playing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, cause we're dorks. Oh, was also making a batch of chocolate chip mint cookies to bring with us too that night XD
Woke up ungodly early on Saturday to make our way to Laguardia airport, first time for me flying from there, first flight for Chromey ever. Everything went smoothly, though I was so out of it I accidentally tipped the cabbie twice the amount what I wanted to cause apparently I can't do math after waking up at 5:30, oh well! Arrived at DTW around 1:00 with no incident, Bakel met us and took us back to his place where we met his best man Joel, who was not a furry so we had to be on our best behavior and not make Bakel look weird XD I think we did a great job too, was awkward using real names so often and there were slippages to using online names but Joel seemed to like us all, haha
Also met their two cats, Charlie and Littlebit! Littlebit was mostly shy and avoided most contact, least when she wasn't high on catnip, but Charlie was a big attention whore, omg XD And he had such a derpy looking face too you just could not avoid his charm! He would do the nuzzling at first to get your attention and if that didn't work he would literally start headbutting sometimes, hahaha. He also did this thing where if you kept patting him on the butt he would meow a lot and then turn around to nibble your arm, and I assure you he enjoyed this cause as soon as you stop he would look at you as if asking, what gives, keep going o.o And in the middle of one night I rolled over and saw Charlie on the head of the bed, standing over Chromey, just sort of staring, which was kinda creepy but I fell back asleep anyways XD
Anywyas, back to saturday XD Eventually arkhanis and mirsathia came over and we talked for a bit, they were very nice and was a pleasure to meet them ^^ Got showered and dressed and went to Bakel's parents' house and then to the reception building, which was quite lovely. The four of us milled around a bit while Bakel and Oni were busy setting things up, after a while artic_dragoness and her mate Bob (forgot his online name) showed up. Bakel had told me not to wear my suit but I ended up being one of the only guys in just a shirt XD;
When the party started, it turned out that Artic and Bob got separated from us at another table, while we sat at a table with a bunch of lawyer type folk XD; Dragons and lawyers don't mix, tis a fact, and both sides politely ignored each other except for casual comments about the food and asking for condiments =p The food was delicious, the beef meal was a huge, wonderful cut of steak, and mine was almost raw enough to be still mooing, perfect <3 Had all the other nice touches too, music, open bar, etc ^^
After dinner all the dragons wanted to go get a breath of air outside and I guess it was the alcohol but I came up with a terrible joke. There was a billboard along a nearby highway advertising for Hooters so I told Chromey (who had the only phone still alive) to text Bakel and tell him we went to Hooters, lol... well, they took it kinda seriously and Joel came out and found us saying so ^^;;; I'm such an ass, I hope they don't hate me for it, I don't think they do, but now I think about it I should've known that all the stress and craziness going on that they might not appreciate such humor >_>;;;
Rest of the night was more socializing, only other thing worth mentioning was that when the slow dances started I got kinda emotional just sitting there (probably the booze again) so I had to go sit outside on my own a bit, Artic and Bob came to cheer me up after a while so I was thankful for that.
When we got back to their house we watched some British comedy flick they had called Run Fatboy Run or something? Strange movie but funny!
Sunday was a more lazy/hanging out day. Had to say goodbye to Arkh, Artic, Mir, and Bob as only Chromey and I were the online folks staying longer. We ate at Denny's and played some video games, showed them Monster Hunter at some point though I dunno if they plan on buying it XD At night we went to the movies to see Scott Pilgrim Versus the World which was actually quite a fun flick, I thought it was going to be stupid but you really have to see it to appreciate it ^^ I think I also played a bit of Mass Effect that night, Oni was eager to see me try it and get into it, I think I will have to buy it now!
Monday was Joel's final day around and after everyone woke up we went to a nice Mexican place for dinner before seeing him off at the airport. Rest of the day was more hanging out and being a bit more silly now that only dragons remained. At night when Oni got off work we all went to a pool hall where I showed off how terrible I am.
Tuesday Chromey and I went home after eating a quick bite of breakfast with Bakel ( Oni had already slipped away with her family to say goodbye to them, I never got to hug her goodbye D: ) All in all it was a fun time, I'm happy they had me over and put up with me, lookin forward to seeing them again, perhaps in New Jersey next time!
