I know that a lot - if not 99% of you - disagree with current politics and the war in general. I disagree with it myself.

But it's not like my brother and his fellow soldiers stood in front of the White House and said "Yes sir, Mr. Bush, we're just dying to go back to Iraq and enjoy the sunshine and sand. Really, sir, please send us?"

After talking to Jacob Charles (that's my brother, btw), I'm sending him and his friends a care package of snacks and cheap, used PS2 games, a few books, magazines... stuff like that. I can't do much or often, unfortunately because I'm still over a pickle barrel financially, but I remember how hard it was to be far from home even in peacetime when I was in the military.

Mail Call is the best hour of any day.

It really means a lot to the men and women in uniform to get things from us. Even if it's just a postcard saying that we're thinking of them and praying/hoping for their safe return.

PV2 Raines Jacob
HHC 2-12 Cav 2-1 Inf. Div. 1st Cav Div.
Unit #43311

If any of you could find it in yourself to drop him/them a note, a postcard, a book, a game, bake them cookies, anything at all, it would mean a lot to me... and even more to them. For the general unit, you can just replace his name with 'Our Troops in Unit #43311' or make it 'Our Troops in Unit #43311 c/o PV2 Raines Jacob'. That should work.

Or there's the USO's Operation Care Package, if you'd rather go that route.

It's all well and good to fight over here to bring them back, but don't forget them while they're there. Please?

Edit: If you or someone you know has a family member or a friend in Iraq, get the address. Write them. Send them cookies. Tell their unit how much they're missed.
