To me, Chamber of Secrets has some obvious problems with it, too. I mean, for one, Tom Riddle who is supposed to be student age and look somewhat like Harry is like 45 (I exaggerate but you know what I mean). Overall, CC seems to have been quite comfortable with having people cast in roles they were at least 25 years too old to play. Sometimes this worked out in our favour (ALANRICKMANASSNAPEZOMG) but other times it resulted in craziness like Moaning Myrtle. I mean, really? She was nearly 40 when she shot CoS. I'm all for suspension of disbelief, but what the hell?

Another thing I thought they really screwed up was having the audience hear Harry speak parseltongue during the dueling scene. I mean, the point of that in the book is that Harry has no idea he's doing it and when Ron and Hermione drag him out of there and confront him, it's as much of a shock to the reader as it is to Harry. I don't understand why in the first film when Harry's speaking Parseltongue to the snake at the zoo we hear him speak English (presumably because he does not yet know he is speaking Parseltongue) but in this scene when he does not yet know he is speaking Parseltongue, we hear Parseltongue. Are we seeing this from Harry's perspective or not?

I also think they missed a trick by not having Tom's discussion of the similarities between him and Harry (which of course they could not do since Tom was so woefully miscast) and a slightly longer discussion with Dumbledore post-Chamber. The fact that Harry and Voldy's lives run parallel but they are different because they make different choices is pretty important to both CoS and the whole series and it was pretty much ignored.
