Interesting bit on
Holocaust history.
Deep-fried macaroni and cheese--hazard or heaven?
Friend of mine had a wincing moment yesterday when we were meandering through YouTube together. Turns out Andrew Zimmern of Bizarre Foods scares him. Then he said, "You want a cooking show? Name an ingredient."
Between one thing and another, it was discovered I'd seen maybe two episodes of Alton Brown, and nothing would do but I had to see more. This, I do not mind.
We saw three or four episodes last night--cheese, pocket pies, sweet potatoes and garlic, so yeah, four--and one of the recipes on the garlic ep caught my eye.
I've made
forty clove chicken before. And it was very, very good. I may have to--once we can shop again--pick up a chicken and make it for the three of us.
I also favor his
coleslaw recipe, I'm wanting to try his
fruitcake recipe (though I'd add more rum and more aging) and his recipe for
sushi rice just doesn't get any easier.
Which reminds me, I may have to wheedle the girl out of getting me another sushi mat set--and some additional things--because who knows in which box my set is buried? And I miss simple veggie sushi. (Though yes, technically, it's not sushi at that point, it's just rolled up veggies with rice in yaki nori--but still, sushi's the understood term.)
This week I'm working my way through
Elfen Lied. Which has to be one of the single most depressing animes ever--torture, innocence lost, betrayal, senseless death--but I adore it. We're dropped into the middle of active pain, and we do not understand, and we remain baffled and vaguely hurt until the ending. Then it's a collective "Oh...oh, gods, that's horrible."
I don't know, maybe on occasion I just like those sorts of melodrama--"he dies, she dies, everybody dies" theatre.
It could just be me.
The Corrigan Brothers get weird with their tribute to
Barack Obama's Irish roots; you can read the lyrics (and hear additional ones) by watching
Shay Black sing new verses. This whole thing still makes me giggle, but hey...could be true. :)
Also,
this is essential viewing for any Star Wars fan. Or hey, any non-Star Wars fan. It's funny as hell.
For the Trekkers, I have one for you too--
Knights of Star Trek. Imagine mixing the vocals from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Star Trek, and major characters dancing...wait, you don't have to, that's what you'll see!
It's really, really excellently cut.
In more YouTube lunacy, combine Eddie Izzard, Legos and Star Wars and what do you get?
Apparently
this.
There's a whole bunch of these--
British vs. American films,
B-movies and vampires, and
his theory about guns are three of the best.
In local news, the leg improves slowly. Walking is no longer akin to being stabbed through the patella with an ice pick--now it's back to its usual overstressed nearly-collapsing, and I'm hoping another week I'll be back to hating my knees normally, but being able to walk as well as I could before.
I am being stubborn and refusing to get out the walker, even though it would be help. We all have our limits.
Did I mention the
Kirk/Spock version of "I Touch Myself"? Or the
Kirk/Spock version of "Paralyzer"? Or same couple, but to "
Sexyback"? Or to "
Closer"? (The 'Closer' one is genius on the editing, btw, but does contain snips of NSFW material.)
Last thing, found a little clip from
The Way to Eden, of of Star Trek's weirdest episodes. (And with so many seasons of so many shows, that does say something.)
