they keep telling the vegetarian to cook meat

So there was this HUGE ham roast on the counter. It fell to me to set up the ham to cook, and crymsin_lilly had mentioned she usually does this brown sugar/molasses glaze, and calls it good.

I'd never done that. My thing, back when? Stud that sucker with cloves and pour orange juice on it, over and over (by the way? Still a good taste for ham). But we didn't have any orange juice.

So, rather than call up I thought I'd take a stab at it. I got a big coffee cup down from the cupboard, found a basting brush, and poured 1/4 cup Barbados molasses in the cup, and 1/2 a cup of brown sugar. But it didn't seem enough to me.

So I put in half a tablespoon of chili powder and reached for the cinnamon, intending the same thing. Only I opened the wrong half of the lid, and dumped about a quarter-cup of cinnamon into the cup.

Eeeeeek.

Thinking quick, I dumped in a quarter-cup of apricot-pineapple preserves (hey, it sounded good), along with the juice of half a lime, and stirred like mad. It came out nearly chocolate-brown, and the consistency of thick frosting.

So I scored the ham, and frosted it thickly, put it in the oven for two and a half hours, and popped it out.

By all reports? It was really really good.

Yay!

When the girl's done with dinner, I begin dyeing her hair blue. I got some pics (which she'll kill me for posting) of her and I post-blonding. Then I'll take pics tomorrow of her blue. :)
