and in the interim of days

They saved the patient. Oh, c'mon, it's a cute story.

But really I wanted to lay out something else entirely. Downloaded an optional (and somewhat problematic) viewer for SL today. The update of fixed bugs I had to capture. Here's why:

Release Notes for Second Life 1.17.1(0) June 22, 2007
=====================================
Changes:

Bug fixes:
* Fixed SVC-306: Objects are visible at <0,0,0> (sometimes before moving to their correct position)

For the uninitiated, this means that when you transport somewhere, you'd show up underwater, dead level on the sim at 0,0,0 for position--instead of, say, 157,33,218, f'rinstance--with everything in the sim near to you crowded in on your bod. THEN you'd surface, reposition, and everything would fly away from you. QUITE disorienting.

* Fixed VWR-1217: Built-in avatar animations stop suddenly, rather than fading out. (jerky head movement)

Otherwise known as the Silent Hill shaky-head...

* Fixed VWR-1203: Avatars eyes are constantly crossing in 1.17

This one SUCKED MY WILL TO LIVE...For the past week, I've had one eye hovering NW, one eye hovering SE, when they're not actually crossed and looking at each other. What in the hell did they break in the viewer to make eyes act like that?!?

* Fixed VWR-1044: Unchecking "Go Away/AFK When Idle" doesn't work when manually setting Away status

What that means: you set "Away". You go off and do whatever. You come back and unset "Away". Game says no, you're still gone. ARGH.

* Fixed VWR-822: "Create new..." clothing buttons don't auto-wear items

AKA, "Oh, I'm sorry, you actually wanted to create wearable clothing? How completely amusing...NO."

* Fixed VWR-660: When turning off Flexible Object rendering, flexible objects become permanently invisible

This one? Just so you know. SUCKED BEYOND THE TELLING OF IT.

But my favorite, my absolute complete favorite, was finding the line following as the actual technical description of a bug fix. I kid you not, this is a direct copy out of the latest update, this is WHAT IT SAID:

* Fixed VWR-248: Inexplicable folding of Avatars such that they are walking around with their heads up their arses

*falls down laughing*

*reads line again*

*falls down laughing a second time*

second life, weirdness
