the gods gave me special dispensation
So, earlier today, jennybean42 mentioned that apparently, God's been telling the new Pope that it's okay to eat meat on Friday, providing that Friday is St. Patrick's Day, and the faithful are eating corned beef.
Huh.
Well, I think Loki had his hand somewhere in this, because today, Cat and I went to Taco Bell before going shopping for the last bits for our Feast of Padraig, and we ordered food, and sat down. I ordered a cheesy bean and rice burrito, and a seven-layer burrito. Cat ordered a beef combo burrito, and a beef supreme burrito.
Apparently our order got switched about a tad, because usually, they load a two-person order with each order on one side of the tray. So Cat saw the seven-layer burrito and oriented that side of the tray to me. And I picked up the burrito nearest me and ate it on down. And then read the wrapper.
And the wrapper said 1/2 pound Beef Combo. I didn't even notice.
Outside of some stomach cramps and some lower-back pain, didn't over-much affect me, either.
So, figuring I'm already non-vegged for the season, I shared in the Feast. Slow-roasted lean corned beef, red potatoes, carrots, onions and cabbage boiled in organic beef broth, semi-traditional (Cat added currants) Irish Soda Bread, and ginger-spice muffins for dessert.
It was...nice.
I'll pay for all of this later, and I'll work on going back to mostly vegetarian over the coming few days. And maybe I even regret all this a bit.
But I figure...mostly vegetarian...occasional fish bits...and once a year, having corned beef. That's better than my normal diet pre-Topamax: meat, potatoes, meat, potatoes, meat, meat, meat, and did I mention meat?
Yeah. Much better.
Oh, and the doctor called today: I have arthritis in my knees that is now visible on X-ray. So yes, it has worsened.
Of course, I could've told them that.
And my brain is moving in odd directions. I'm plotting out two stories for the Year of Jay & Silent Bob, and...well, them what reads my stuph knows I can't plot for anything, I just mostly churn out interesting character angles. But I'm going to TRY, is the thing.
I just have to wait until all the movement in my brain settles into a story line... :)
No pics today; I'm waiting for Milan to go up, and we've walked through everything else. I still need to spin past Style.com and see what they have for detail shots, but tomorrow and Sunday we're hanging with crymsin_lilly and friends, and Monday is laundry, so...it may be sometime next week. Before anything new is seen. :)
