Ah, where to start. All sorts of things have been brewing in my life lately. I'm taking draping and textile science classes at FIT two evenings a week, while still working overtime hours and trying to get to the gym as much as I can so I haven't been home much. I've also been negotiating a contract to work at the Santa Fe Opera again this summer

Anyway, i was pretty skeptical about the gates as well but when you actually see them it's pretty amazing what they do to the park, especially if you've been there lots of times before. They make you see the whole park in a new way. It's interesting and hard to describe.
The artists themselves have actually said that it has no meaning. They spent 20 years trying to get permission to do it and fighting with the city bureaucracy, so it seems like it's a statement, at the very least, on the state of public art in our society.
