I got an HP all-in-one a quite a few years ago. It worked great until Windows upgraded XP to Service Pack 1 - and then some little quirk effectively disabled the scanner. When I went to scan stuff for college submissions, I had to reinstall an original, un-updated version of Win XP on my old computer just to get the scanner to work. When we started packing, the all-in-one got wrapped up and stuck in storage.
This evening I unpacked it, plugged it in, and connected it to my new (Vista) laptop.
Vista didn't even blink. It found it instantly, recognized the scanner and printer, and worked them perfectly.
I finally have a decent frickin' scanner/printer again. Words cannot express my joy.
