okay. i know that this is entirely old news, but let's talk for a bit about how the album "plans" by death cab for cutie is, in short, fucking amazing. such depth, both sonically and lyrically! such continuity! such exquisite effortlessness! i was trying to figure out how to describe it, and failing, because it's comprised of all these contradictions. it feels both completely organic and studio-and-synth-driven. it sounds effortless and simple, but also complex and infintely layered. it's depressing and about getting older and sadder, and yet exultant and life-affirming. and yet it is both of these things so subtly. it's like a vegetable garden at night on a rooftop in new york city. that's as close as i can get.

also, i went ice skating tonight and subsequently played wiffleball in the parking lot. it was pretty sweet.
