I found out today that I can never donate blood.
There was a blood drive at my job today. I finally decided to step up to the plate and donate for the 1st time. We are going through the list of questions and the guy gets to "Were you associated with a military base overseas between 1980-1996?". Yes. He pauses. I'm thinking I was the person he ever asked that responded yes. (My father was in the army and we lived in Germany in the early 80s and Italy in the early 90s). The guy goes off to find his manual. According to the guidelines I am restricted from giving blood (and now that we know my entire immediate family) due to a situation involving Mad Cow Disease. I found two sites, here and here, about it.
I wonder if i can still be an organ donor??
