So finally I'll post post about this past exciting weekend...
Friday: work till noon (wayy pointless and I just wanted to get out)...then Melody and I made super awesome cookies and cookie-brownie (of course for erin's birthday)in her lovely kitchen. They were so packed with chocolate and butterscotch and marshmallow it was impossible to tell when they were done. Then Sarah came over and the three of us went to watch the Red Sox game at Game On! by Fenway. It was fun to get together, but a sad loss for the red sox.
Saturday: Melody, Dan, Sarah, Erin, and I decided to go on a touristy walk through Boston and the weather was beautiful. We walked through the public gardens and saw the swan boats and ducks (and Erin contemplated what she could hit the ducks and miniature dogs with). Then we walked through Boston Common, which has a awesome wading pool in the Frog Pond (I definitely recommend this place). There's also a playground, but sadly no swings. From there, we went to Quincy Market for lunch and poked around the shops and watched some entertainers.
We met up with Brittany and got ready to go out for Erin's 21st (yay!). We tried a couple places by Fanuil Hall, but there wasn't much of a scene and they were all old people, so we ended up at Tequila Rain by Jillian's. Definitely a good time - girly drinks in tall glasses and the red sox game on the huge screen right next door to Fenway! After the game, we headed back to Melody and Dan's. We ate some of the amazing food Erin made (lasagnes, chips and queso of course, and the cookie brownie!). Lindsay and Brad eventually showed up with a LOT of stuff...Brittany and I sucessfully attacked them with water guns from the balcony. It was great to be almost altogether again.
Sunday: Erin kindly drove me all the way home even though it's wayy past her exit on the pike. When I got home I went shopping. Some family/friends visited (longer story) and we had a cookout and then walked up to Stanley Park for the fireworks (they were pretty good and, as always, Stanley Park is beautiful in the summer). Afterwards, I went with Kait and Pat and couple of Kait's college friends to the summer house party in Otis, which always sounded wayy sketchy and crowded, but totally wasn't. I had a bit too much to drink, but I had a good time.
Monday: We went out for my mom's birthday and the Fort (it's German food and delicious, especially with the Riesling ;-). Then I took the train back. It left really late, but it's cheaper and a much better ride than the bus (cleaner, nicer seats, more leg room, walking around space, outlets for laptops, and no crazy masspike traffic...and it stops in back bay where I live). When I got back there, I met up with Melody and Dan and some of their friends who staked out a spot on the Esplanade. The fireworks were great...a lot better than Westfield of course, though it took a while to get back to the frat. I'm glad I came back for it though. The parties were totally over when I got back (which probably a good thing), but I went over to see Lindsay and Brad and played some pool.
Today, we'll all supposed to check out the Pourhouse for dinner (looks interesting and at least you can't beat the prices).
Kait's coming down tomorrow because she has a bunch of job interviews around Boston...it should be interesting to see if she survives a night in the frat...
It's been great seeing so many people the last few days...Boston was kindof lonely at first...but I'll be glad to get back to a more relaxed schedule...and I totally need to catch up on my reading for the thesis (I've been such a slacker..ahhhh!)
I hope everyone else's summer is going well and please come and visit whenever.
