One-of-those-I-can't-believe-I'm-hearing-this-moments.

Tonight, C.O. Bigelow's staff was informed that we are one of the ten stores across the nation in Limited Brands that is accountable for the 30% of loss within the brand.
Let me rephrase that.
There is appx. 20 million dollars worth of loss company wide.  There are 10 stores that feed that number the most.  We are one of them.

Okay.
So...of the 100% of sales we do in a day.  (this is an exact number)  We lose 22%.
Half of that number is from internal theft.
32% is from external theft...those rings of people that steal, etc.
and then another 18% is paperwork loss.

I sat through a 2 hour meeting about preventing shrink, how to catch theft in/out of the store...and what I am legally able to do.
The frustrating part?  IF I see a customer slip a face-wash into their jacket and walking around the store...by my store's rules, I am not allowed to confront them and say, "Hi!  Can I have that product you just tried to steal back?"  I am also not allowed to call security/mall security.
I am allowed to give them the best customer service they could ask for, offer them a bag to shop with, pester them/kill with kindness...but not confront the true problem.
I am supposed to let them walk out of the store.

AND , the part I couldn't wrap my mind around, was the amount of money my store is responsible for losing every single day.  It's mind boggling.  And to think 50% is from store employees?  What on earth.  I felt so naive.  Some of the stuff that people try to do to steal money/product.
I just don't care that much and am that naive.

Anyways
this meeting / Loss Prevention meeting was why I missed the first night of band camp  =(
alas
Monday through Friday I'll be there

and Friday, afterwards, I"m going to the lake!

WOOT!!

I'm actually looking forward to this week.
I think that's a great sign.

Last weekend was a blast.  Not only did I have a great time with some good company, but I was able to forget about sad things for awhile, and just have some fun.
It was nice.

And, this is ending on a positive note with that, rather than updating aobut the sad stuff.
Okay
See ya later alligator :)
