Just a little bit this morning. I lost too many minutes researching something, but it has paid of in inspiration!
Deep in the gloom of the corner farthest from the door a girl sat on the floor. She had her knees pulled up to chest. She was thin, but had a wild look that told Mary she might bolt at the least provication. As she stepped closer, the floor thrumbed, and she knew this was the preson she'd been looking for. Frankly Mary was amazed that such a delicate looking creature had been able to throw off her forced possession and remain undetected. The internment camp was designed to filter inmates past the guard stations so they could be watched even while they were allowed a certain level of freedom. Just looking at this girl, even without her special sensitivity, Mary could tell this woman was no longer possessed.
"Beware!" a spirit hissed at Mary. "Beware!!"
"Why?" Mary whispered back aloud, still looking at the girl in the corner. Sometmes she didn't need to verbally speak to the spirits around her, but she was still weak and the recreational area was relatively unsupervised. She could afford this little slip of her cover.
"Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under it! He that's coming must be provided for; and you shall put this night's business into your dispatch, which shall to all our nights and days to come give solely sovereign sway and masterdom."
Mary blinked. "What?" Her eyes sought out the spirit, but it had faded away as quickly as it appeard.
Turning back to the girl, Mary tried to imagine what dangers could be lurking under her fragile facade. It was probbly nothing. The elder spirits often talked incessantly and much of it was either gibberish or ancient gossip from their time among the living. This girl might very well hold the key to getting out of the interment camp, and besides all that, she looked like she could use a friend.
